For taking initiative in forming a joint venture
between CECRI and High Energy Batteries
How
will this help ?
CECRI has developed several revolutionary technologies
for EV batteries but it is unable to exploit these technologies, being a
non-profit , government owned lab
Currently , there are no manufacturers in India for
Lithium-ion Battery , which is the heart of our EV program. We totally depend
upon imported batteries
With nearly 41 % import duty / surcharge , these
batteries make up almost 40 % of an EV sale price
Whereas imported batteries are mostly Lithium based ,
batteries proposed to be developed in JV will use a combination of Lithium, Nickle,
Manganese and Cobalt ( raw materials available locally )
