Evolution : JioFibre > JioMeet / Revolution : Jio Glass

Apparently , Reliance Juggernaut seems unstoppable

A year ago, it was Jio GigaFibre  Broadband delivering internet at Gigabit speed

A month ago, it was JioMeet ( Video Conferencing ) for 100 people – and FREE

Today ,  it is JioGlass mixed-reality headsets for HOLOGRAPHIC video-conferencing for business and education

Here are the details :

Extract :

Jio Glass comes with a cable that can be attached to the phone to connect to the internet.

The mixed reality headsets weigh 75 grams. Visually, the device seems like a normal pair of sunglasses but comes with sensors and necessary hardware for a mixed reality immersive experience.

The glasses also come with a cable that can be used to connect the device with a smartphone. It amplifies existing apps that are compatible with the headset to provide 3D and 2D experience. Currently, it is compatible with over 25 apps in various genres including entertainment.

The device is fitted with a personalized audio system which works without any additional accessories. The glasses are equipped with a high-resolution display, Jio said.

The glasses can be used to conduct holographic video calls. The company highlighted two use cases of the glasses in its demo at the AGM- virtual meetings and education.

JioGlass can be used to conduct video meetings in 3D. A user can activate the device using a voice command such as “Hello Jio Please call X and Y.”

The receiver can choose to attend the meeting in 3D with a 3D avatar or opt for a 2D video call.

Meeting participants can view and share presentations during video calls along with 3D assets and holograms.

Another major use case for the device is education.

“ The Covid-19 pandemics has prompted one of the most important applications in the immersive space which is education “ , Kiran Thomas President, RIL.

The glasses can be used to enable virtual classrooms where educators can conduct holographic classes through Jio mixed reality cloud in real-time.

=========================================================

Now, the idea of conducting Holographic meetings has been around for quite some time.

In fact, PM Shri Modiji held some Holographic election rallies during his 2015 election campaign.

But it was one-way / uni-directional projection, requiring some heavy and very expensive hardware, mounted on trucks

To make this technology “ Two Way “ and make it cheap enough for the masses, mobile phone make RED tried to introduce a “ so called “ holographic phone Hydrogen, some 3 years ago . Did not work out ( besides costing $ 1300 in USA )

Then, a few years ago, Google introduced Google Glass , with following feature ( as described on its web site ) :

Collaborate in real-time

Glass can connect you with coworkers in an instant, bringing expertise to right where you
are. Invite others to “see what you see” through a live video stream so you can collaborate and troubleshoot in real-time.

Improve accuracy

Access training videos, images annotated with instructions, or quality assurance checklists that help you get the job done, safely, quickly and to a higher standard

Stay focused

Glass intuitively fits into your workflow and helps you remain engaged and focused on high value work by removing distractions. Using voice commands, you can activate the right application for you at any time.

But, for some reason, Google did not / could not find many takers for Google Glass

But with 7.7 % holding in Jio, Google will pass-on its technology to Jio Glass

FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF MY THOUGHTS ON HOW JIO GLASS CAN DIGITIZE INDIA AND EMPOWER MILLIONS OF ( CURRENT AND FUTURE ) JOBLESS YOUTH TO BECOME “ SELF  EMPLOYED “ :

Seeing things: Augmented reality

Virtual- or augmented-reality headsets aren't just for gamers, Minnett says. They could actually be used at work.

A device, like Google Glass or Microsoft’s HoloLens headset, could overlay digital images onto the real world.

AN EMPTY OFFICE COULD BECOME A CONFERENCE SPACE, WHERE PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT PHYSICAL LOCATIONS CAN WRITE ON DIGITAL WHITEBOARDS OR EXAMINE VIRTUALLY REPRODUCED PRODUCTS.

Speak to me: Real-time translation

Here’s one that isn’t ready for prime-time just yet:

real-time language translation for video conferencing.

While advances are being made, the technology to converse smoothly with a non-native speaker remains elusive for now, REA’s Dalton said. “That will change the world,” he said.

Faster than a speeding bullet: 5G

The next evolution of mobile networks, known as 5G, is expected to roll out in the next few years and could do much more than just make it easier to work from home.

BACK  FACTORY OF  THE  WORLD ?  ………………………………………………………..( 09  Sept  2015  )

Can India become the " Back Factory " of the World ?

Wrong question !

Right question is : WHEN can we become the " Back Factory " of the World ?

Answer is " hiding in plain sight " !

So , WHEN can our scientists - and software Start Ups - enable Indian workers , sitting in Hyderabad / Chennai etc , to operate / manipulate , machinery in factories of Europe / America / China ?

I believe this can become a reality by 2020 , if Central Government and State Governments , just get out of the way of our scientists / Start Ups and leave them alone !

Then tell them :

" You are our next generation of Freedom Fighters . Free our millions from
poverty / starvation / jobless depression / ignominy / suicides

Like war - ravaged people of North Africa , Indians cannot invade Europe / Australia / Canada , in search of jobs / better life

We depend upon you to bring the jobs to India - jobs such as ,

  *   Operating Machinery in Factories abroad

  *   Controlling Air Traffic at Airports around the World

  *   Operating upon patients in Hospitals , all over

  *   Teaching students in Schools , in remote Africa

  *   Any job that currently requires immediate presence of a worker

A  WELCOME  INITIATIVE   …………………………………………………………………………… 08 April 2018 ]

Extract :

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has mooted a concept of open architecture-based public Wi-Fi grid to bring down the cost of internet by 90 per cent.

By doing so, it will allow small entrepreneurs such as tea stalls, grocery shops and vendors to set up and maintain access points. Device manufacturers, payment companies, ISPs / telcos and consumer internet companies can provide the remaining pieces to set up public data offices (PDOs), it said on Thursday.

The regulator’s concept involves PDOs — much like PCOs of yester-years that galvanized connectivity.

The PDOs will be companies, or even small merchants, interested in providing Wi-Fi hotspots to public either free or on payment model, it said.

According to the report, the products available for consumption should begin from ‘sachet sized’, that is, low denomination, as low as ₹2.

It said users should be able to easily discover the network, do one-click authentication and payment and connect their devices in Wi-Fi hotspots.

“ The experience for small entrepreneurs to purchase, self-register, set up a PDO must be simple, low touch and maintenance free,” it said.

INDIA BPO PROMOTION SCHEME ………………………….……………………………………[ 11 April 2018 ]

   Extract :

I am sure , in any given ONE square km of a small town , there are 50 unemployed - and quite possibly , GRADUATE - youngsters , who would be more than happy to " work from home "

They will be happy to set aside , in their homes , a 5 feet by 5 feet space , as a " Home Work Station "

Now , that subsidy of " Rs 1 lakh per seat " that the IT Ministry has promised , is quite sufficient to set up a :

VIRTUAL  CALL  CENTER ,

by connecting those 50 youngsters through a  , VPN ( VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK )

And since these youngsters are working from their homes , they can be asked to work in 3 shifts of 8 hours each , providing " Round the Clock " service to customers !

We will be “ Watched / Measured / Imaged / Listened to / Analysed / Administered / Governed “ , every second of our lives ( - and no one will even ask for any permission ! )

Anyone wearing an AR / VR device ( which will be everyone ! ) , will know who we are and what we are doing , at ANY MOMENT !

ORGANIZING THE UNORGANIZED …………………………………………………………………[ 04 Feb 2019 ]

Extract :

There are around 15,000 skill training centres in the country right now, which are

inadequate for India’s size

We need to train at least 2 crore people every year, but right now we’re training only 1.05 croreWe need to double our capacity

At Rs 3 cr / centre , we need Rs 45,000 cr to construct additional 15,000 centres , to be

able to train 2 cr youth / year . It will take years to construct these centres , even if the

required funds were available ( - which is not ! )

To bypass both of these limitations , I suggest :

         #   Transform millions of  MSME  into “ Skill Training Centres

         #   Deliver online Training Courses for development of various skills through the
Computer provided by the Labor Ministry for implementation of MaanDhan Scheme

        #   Some of these may be VR based training, requiring VR headsets ( to be provided
FREE to MSME by this Ministry ) . These can be used not only by the apprentices
but also by the MSME’s own workers

How will tie-up with Google help JioGlass to accelerate its adoption ?

Here is one reason :

Think You Can’t Escape Google? You Haven’t Seen Anything Yet  /  12 Dec 2019

Extract :

Ø  Basically, Google wants to make Flutter the gateway to building the digital interface of the world itself

Ø  The most profound technologies are those that disappear. They weave themselves into the fabric of everyday life until they are indistinguishable from it.”

Ø  A digital world connected by wireless frequencies, tracking and reacting to our needs, and answering our queries through conversation rather than graphic interface.

Ø  That’s where Google wants Flutter to go next. Your company’s app can live on a TV screen, or a refrigerator, or a projection on the sidewalk, if it adopts Flutter.

Ø  The news of today is that Google is repositioning an open source technology it developed called Flutter to have a bigger scope. It’s a software development kit that allows designers to build an app UI just once, and then use that UI on platforms like Android, iOS, or the web without needing to rebuild it or recode it.

=====================================================================================

Dear Mukeshbhai,

Congratulations on your vision for empowering millions of young / jobless Indians to  become Self Employed , using :

Ø  A very cheap 5G Smart phone ( Rs 2,500 ? ), coupled with

Ø  Jio Glass headset ( Rs 2,500 )

This combination of devices / software will help them conduct Holographic Video-Meetings with individuals / enterprises / businesses, around the World ( without needing Visas / Work Permits / travels / physical presence ) and offer these entities their REMOTE SERVICES ( you name it ! )

Through this blog / email , I urge Shri RaviShankar Prasadji to support Reliance Jio in this venture

With regards,
