Questions Beyond Syllabus ?

Extract from the article:

In a recent development, a NEET candidate filed a petition alleging that a question in the physics section related to 'radioactivity' was out of syllabus.

The petitioner argued that this topic was not included in the prescribed syllabus for the exam. However, the Delhi High Court has dismissed the plea, stating that the question was within the bounds of the syllabus, thereby upholding the integrity of the examination process.

This incident sheds light on the importance of aligning examination questions with the designated syllabus to ensure fairness and transparency in competitive exams like NEET. It also underscores the challenges faced by candidates in dealing with unexpected or disputed questions during high-stakes assessments.

My Take:

Blog Title: Exam Malpractices ? No More !

The issue of fairness and integrity in exams is paramount, as highlighted in the recent NEET case where a candidate raised concerns about an out-of-syllabus question.

This situation resonates with the need to uphold the sanctity of examination processes and prevent malpractices.

As mentioned in my blog post, advancements like IoT can play a crucial role in curbing cheating in exams. The case of disputed questions underscores the importance of maintaining a level playing field for all test-takers.

Call to Action:

To the examination authorities and policymakers :

Whereas SYLLABUS cannot be done away with, it is high time that we ask of ourselves :

“ By placing an undue emphasis on a student to ‘ learn by heart ‘ , entire chapter of a Text Book on a given subject, are we turning our students into some kind of a HARD DISK – an information storage and retrieval DEVICE ?

Dear Parents / Teachers / Principals:

By studying answers to syllabus-related questions, your child can excel in their exams.

In this age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), that is just not enough. Your child must learn to THINK. She must

become Curious - Inquisitive - Creative.

They must learn to ask: WHY - WHAT?
