Google's DeepMind is building an AI to keep us from hating each other

Extract from the article:

The Habermas Machine, developed by Google's DeepMind, aims to facilitate agreement in the public sphere.

This innovative system is based on a model involving two language models that can be utilized to engage a group of individuals. The core idea behind this AI project is to foster better communication and understanding among people, potentially mitigating conflicts and disagreements in societal discourse.

In essence, the Habermas Machine represents a technological advancement designed to enhance public dialogue and consensus-building by leveraging sophisticated AI capabilities. By harnessing the power of language models and group dynamics, DeepMind's AI initiative seeks to break down barriers to communication and promote harmonious interactions in diverse settings.

My Take:

Fwd: How DeepMind thinks it can make chatbots safer

"The advancement in AI technologies such as DeepMind's Habermas Machine underscores the foresight required in anticipating the evolution of intelligent systems.

Just as I explored the potential for AI chatbots to enhance safety measures, DeepMind's current endeavor echoes the necessity to address societal concerns through innovative AI solutions. The quest for safer and more effective technologies aligns with the continuous evolution of AI's impact on human interactions and societal dynamics."

Will Robots Get Better Than Humans?

"As we witness the development of AI systems like the Habermas Machine, the discussion around the social and ethical implications of artificial intelligence gains relevance.

The quest to imbue AI with social sensitivity and ethical norms, as I previously highlighted, remains a pertinent challenge. DeepMind's pursuit of enhancing public discourse through AI signifies a step towards bridging the gap between human and machine interactions, prompting a deeper exploration of ethical AI frameworks."

My Questions :

This made me wonder :

Can such an AI tool ( after some context-specific improvements ) become capable to bring about a CONSENSUS of view-points on Policy Matters, among political parties , each having different approaches to solution of problems ?

For example , what would ChatGPT come up with if it were to compare the above mentioned article about “ Habermas Machine “ , with the summary of my following blogs ( sent to India’s Cabinet Ministers as emails ) ?

Would ChatGPT see a possibility of using  a vastly improved Habermas Machine to resolve the differences between different political parties , to bring about a CONSENSUS , leading to institutionalization of coalition government ?

Call to Action:

To Google's DeepMind team,

-       continue pioneering AI initiatives that foster constructive dialogue and understanding among diverse groups.

-       Embrace the responsibility of shaping AI technologies that prioritize societal benefits and ethical considerations.

-       Your dedication to enhancing communication through AI can inspire a new era of collaborative innovation for societal harmony.
