I was encouraged by your recent remarks emphasising that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji believes in empowering citizens rather than offering “freebies”—a sentiment you articulated at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference, highlighting schemes like Surya Ghar Muft Bijli and PM KUSUM as tools that build self-reliance and dignity of purpose rather than dependency on government largesse.

In a similar spirit of long-term economic responsibility and democratic integrity, I had outlined an idea earlier this year — Prevention of Irresponsible Promises by Political Parties Act (PIPPPA) — urging the Government to consider legislation that would curb the proliferating culture of freebies in political manifestos and election campaigns.

The PIPPPA concept aims to ensure that political manifestos focus on sustainable policies, development-oriented promises, and fiscal prudence rather than short-term populist giveaways. It seeks to strengthen our democratic process by making electoral promises transparent, accountable, and aligned with national economic priorities.

In view of:

• Your own public emphasis on self-reliance and empowerment over freebies, and

• Ongoing national debates on responsible governance and expenditure,

I humbly request you to kindly persuade the Hon’ble Prime Minister to consider the introduction of the PIPPPA Bill in the forthcoming session of the Lok Sabha. I am confident that such leadership from our Government would reinforce the foundational goals of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and enduring economic health for the nation.

I would be deeply grateful for your consideration of this request, and I remain at your disposal should you require any further detail on the proposed PIPPPA provisions.
