FLOW CHART OR FLOWCHART ?

Whether your search-term happens to be [ without commas ],

·          Recruitment  Process  Flow  Chart

     Or

·          Recruitment  Process  Flowchart,

Search engines [ Google  /  Yahoo  /  Bing  ] seem to be in agreement re: which website should occupy position # 2  /  # 3.

Despite the extremely low “ probability “ of such an occurrence in search results ranging from 25,500 to 898,000 !

Recruiters may want to discover for themselves !

A BLACK SWAN?

Author Nassim Taleb, in his book, “ Black Swan “, describes a black swan as an extremely rare event but still possible.

Search engines

·      giving the same rank ( position in search results )

·      to the same website

·      for the same search-term ( and a long / generic too )

is an example of such a rare event.

But it did happen this afternoon ( Jan 13, 2011 ) when Google and Yahoo and Bing, all placed

at position  # 3, upon entering search-term

Can someone calculate the probability and record feedback at

RETIRE EARLY? NO WAY!

RETIRE EARLY? NO WAY!

That is what Indians seem to be saying.

French insurer Axa Life Insurance asked workers in many countries, what should be the ideal retirement age. Here are some answers:

·         India  ……………61 years (from current 58 years)

·         Hong Kong/Indonesia … 55  years

·         China  ………………………  54  years

Apparently, residents of Hong Kong seem to be most assured about their post-retirement income, with 55 % of them availing of early retirement and a mere 17 % working till normal retirement age!

Compare this with 70 % of the Indians, who continue to work till their normal retirement age.

And that applies to only 10 % of the 460 million Indians who work in the “organized sector“.

Balance 90 % of Indian workers don’t even know the concept of “retirement “! Happily or unhappily, they start working as a 5 year old child and continue till grave!

CAKEWALK FOR JOBSEEKERS?

Here are some interesting findings from a Nielsen India Study conducted in Dec.2010 (Times of India/Jan 12, 2011):

Of the 626 Indian male executives surveyed,

·        85 % believe clean-shaven men get to attend meetings and   travel out of the office

·        86 % felt, when it comes to promotion, clean-shaven men have upper hand

·        73 % said women like to accompany clean-shaven men to party

Of the 414 women bosses surveyed,

·        90 % preferred clean-shaven men

·        79 % felt clean-shaven men have successful careers

·        66 % believe getting a job is a cakewalk for clean-shaven men

·        66 % prefer taking a clean-shaven man to meet her parents

At least in India, bearded men seem to face a bleak future!

Blessed are the clean-shaven for they shall inherit the earth!

OUTSOURCE TO INDIA, SAVE UK’S NHS

6 Jan 2011

“OUTSOURCE TO INDIA, SAVE UK’S NHS“

This is the title DNA newspaper (Jan 05 2011) gave to a PTI report from London.

According to this report, John Neilson, the Managing Director of Britain’s National Health Services (NHS), said millions of pounds could be saved by outsourcing more NHS administration to India.

NHS is responsible for leading healthcare efficiency reforms in the UK.

As pressure on NHS budgets intensifies, Neilson suggested that the alternative is cuts to services.

Or is he advocating more of “Medical Tourism “?

For the world as a whole, it seems the only option is to evenly distribute “joblessness“ across national borders.

FOR JOBLESS: WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE FAILS.

If you are 27 year old, got your resume re-written by many resume-writing experts, applied unsuccessfully against 48 job vacancies and still jobless after 2 years, you may want to consider adding, right on top of your resume ( in bold letters ):

“ I am a born workaholic. My work ethics motivate me to work for 12 hours per day for 7 days a week – without overtime payment. I can beat any Chinese worker in productivity “

There is a high probability that you get an interview call.

You have nothing to lose but everything to gain !

CREATING JOBS ALL OVER THE WORLD ?

In Nov.2010, President Obama visited India with the declared purpose of signing trade deals worth $ 10 billion.

That enabled him to claim creation of 50,000 jobs for the jobless Americans – and to reclaim some of his lost popularity.

With joblessness threatening governments around the world, other politicians lost no time in picking up the hint.

Virtually lining up to sign their own trade deals were

  • Cameron of UK

  • Sarkozy of France

  • Jiabao of China

  • Medvedev of Russia
In quick succession, they came and signed trade deals ( aka “ selling goods to India “ ) worth $ 100 billions.

In a short period of 6 weeks, India helped create 500,000 jobs around the world !

In the meantime, 42 million young Indians registered with the State Employment Exchanges of India are waiting for the world to “ buy “ a few things from India so that some of them can get job-offers.

They don’t care whether India gets a permanent membership of UN Security Council or not !
