Going
Beyond 14 Minutes
Following news reports
appeared in yesterday’s papers :
The carrier will be able to carry nuclear warhead at 43,200 kilometres per hour
velocity
[ Pune Mirror ]
A 100 km Hyperloop route between Navi Mumbai and Pune will cost Rs 26,000 crores,
but ticket-cost 1 /
10th the cost of airfare , said Maharashtra Government on
Thursday
[ Times of India ]
I am reminded of what someone said :
“ It is alright to build Castles in the air – as
long as you know how to put foundations underneath those castles , later on “
Let us rise above the “ 14 Minute Syndrome “ and congratulate Shri Devendra Fadnavis –
Chief Minister, Maharashtra , for “ thinking BIG / dreaming BIG “ , as evident from his
following recent decisions :
·
22.5 Km long Trans Harbour Bridge
to connect Sewree with New Mumbai
·
A statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ( at 210 M tall , highest in World )
China tried very hard to grab the Mumbai
– Ahmedabad bullet train project ( costing Rs 1 lakh*crore ) but lost it to Japan
Rising above all the objections ( some very valid too ), to what
opposition parties call “ an expensive toy of doubtful utility “, let us hope
that this bullet train brings in to our babu-culture , a “ change of attitude “
exemplified by the following news appearing in today’s Mumbai Mirror :
“ Japan : Train departs 20 seconds early , rail
operator apologises “
What would have the Managing
Director of that Japanese Rail Company done, if the train had reached the
destination 20 seconds
late ?
