LML
to make electric comeback with e-Hyperbike in Sept '22: / TOI / 16
April 2022
Extract :
The return of LML is
being orchestrated by SG Corporate Mobility ( SGCM )
For technology and
products, LML Electric has entered into a collaboration with eROCKIT,
Germany
LML E-Hyperbike is expected to bear similarities with eROCKIT of Germany
The company will unveil
3 products on 29th Sept .
The 3 products include the LML E-Hyperbike, e-bike
and an electric scooter
The
first launch in India will be E-Hyperbike
, which will be a premium electric motorcycle offering pedal-assist
Based on the German product’s specs, we estimate the E-Hyperbike to offer around 120 Km on a
single charge with a pedal-assist
The motorcycle is expected to have a top speed of 90
KMPH with about 20 HP of power
During the same time, LML will start the deliveries of
an electric cycle (
e-Bike )
Interestingly, LML Electric will adopt a swappable battery model for its products to start with
Yogesh did not disclose any specifics but he told us
that the company is working out a unique solution for
the customer wherein she might not have to worry about
charging at all
While we aren't sure what the unique solution is,
it could be a combination of fast-charging coupled with home delivery or location
based delivery of swappable batteries
From eROCKIT website :
The eROCKIT®
eROCKIT,
the unique pedal-powered electric motorcycle. The innovative, clutch-free
direct drive of the eROCKIT intelligently adapts to the intuitive pedal
control.
The
operation is very simple:
The
human is pedalling and bike multiplies his muscle power many times and makes the driver happy
with an indescribable, magical driving experience.

MY TAKE :
Dear Shri Bhatiaji,
Congratulations !
As far as the daily transport needs of
millions of Indians are concerned, cars / taxis / rickshaws , are prohibitively
expensive
For them, the choices are :
#
Public Transport Buses / Metros ( mostly run by local municipalities /
grossly
inadequate / poor frequencies / crowded /
expensive )
#
Privately owned Bicycles ( Selling for Rs 10,000 – Rs 20,000 )
But, for a daily 20-30 Km round-trip to
workplace, pedalling is tiring – especially when we do not have separate /
dedicated “ Bike Tracks “
However, if an ordinary bicycle can be “
married “ to a battery powered electric motor, that would be an ideal solution
Of course, provided the selling price of
such an e-Bike ( without the Battery ) , is around Rs 20,000 / - and that swappable battery can be taken on a “
lease rental “ of Rs 1 / Km ( with
battery needing replacement after 1,000 Km – approx.
2 months )
That realization made me send the
following e-mail to our Cabinet Ministers :

Here is an opportunity ( or a threat ? ), for
India's " Organized / Large Scale Bi-cycle Manufacturers "
Cambridge (
USA ) based GeoOrbital has come out with a unique
bicycle wheel for replacing the Front Wheel of any standard ( 26 " / 28
" ) existing bicycle , to convert it into an " Electric Bicycle " in ONE minute and without any tools !
Changing
back to original Front Wheel of your vintage bicycle , will also take no more
than ONE minute
GeoOrbital
Front Wheel carries a 500 Watt DC motor / a removable Lithium-Io
battery / Wheel lock and a Motor
Controller ( a simple thumb activated throttle, which is easily clipped
onto your handlebar )
Battery
needs 3 / 4 hours to recharge ( depending upon capacity ) but gets Regenerative
Charge when you pedal !
It will give a range of 20 miles (
50 miles if you pedal for exercise ) with a speed of 20 MPH (
without pedaling )
Launched in
May 2016 , bulk deliveries will start in Feb
2017 . Overseas orders will be accepted online @ $ 800
If this GeoOrbital
front wheel was to be manufactured in India ( in a Joint Venture with GeoOrbital ?
) , then I believe , the selling price could be brought down to Rs 10,000 / - (
opportunity for Indian Bicycle Manufacturers ? )
Dear Shri
Bhatiaji,
I hope LML
Electric comes up with a solution similar to GeoOrbital – but far less
expensive , which millions can afford
If you do, I
strongly believe that , just like recently announced “ Electric Bicycle Subsidy
Scheme “ of Delhi Government, all the State Governments will come out with
similar schemes
Thanks for
thinking about the ordinary citizens’ transport needs
Your revolutionary
solution will vastly contribute, not only decongesting urban transport but also
greatly contribute to reduction in Air Pollution
