Tap In / Tap Out

Context  :

Now, E-double decker gets tap-in tap-out facility in Mumbai……….. TNN   /  18 Feb 2028

Extract :

The BEST on Friday installed machines on front and rear doors of the new e double decker for tap in and tap out facility , making it 100 % digital bus for Mumbai

"One can use the Chalo App on their mobile phone to tap in while entering from the front door of the bus.  The commuter will have to tap out using the mobile app from the rear door exit. It will compute the fare based on the distance travelled and deduct from online wallets “

 ============================

MY  TAKE :

Ø  PUBLIC TRANSPORT AS A SOLUTION ?....................... 15  Feb  2016

Extract :

 #   Gradually change over to air conditioned buses

   #   Do not allow standee passengers(this will require adding many more buses )

    #   Introduction of BRTS ( Bus Rapid Transit System )

    #   Bus Arrival Time Indicators linked with GPS in all buses ) at all bus stops

    #   A tablet type digital device fitted behind each seat, where passenger to

touch his destination on route map displayed

Passenger will also touch his smart phone to the device which will transfer

the fare amount to the bus operator , through a mobile wallet .

     #    No need for a conductor - as practiced in many foreign countries !

This will tell the driver, at which stops, which passengers are getting off and

        seat/s are falling vacant

    #   If bus is already FULL and no passenger is getting off at the next bus stop,

then driver will not halt the bus ,since he cannot accommodate any standee

         passenger

    #   If a passenger is supposed to get off at, say XYZ stop, digital device wil

flash a signal / ring a bell , a few minutes before reaching the stop

   #   The Bus Arrival Time Indicator , at the stop will also display the " No of

Vacant Seats " in this bus

This ( No of Vacant Seats ) sign will also appear prominently on the bus

itself as it pulls into the halt

    #   It is equally easy to introduce such an Integrated Traffic Management

System in Inter-City buses as well

    #   Entire intra-city bus traffic will be monitored and controlled from the Central

Traffic Control Station of the City traffic department, much in the same way

ATC control air traffic or railways control train traffic

    #   It is just a question of extending an existing ( but slightly modified )

          technology to city traffic

    #   As far as density of traffic on various roads is concerned, mobile apps are

         already available

    #   Based on the situation, Central Traffic Control will order additional buses to

be injected on any particular route, at any given time

    #   In some foreign countries , even elevator systems in large office buildings

         are designed to gauge

         *  the number of persons waiting for elevator at each floor ( and how many

want to go UP and how many want to go DOWN ),

         *  the number of persons riding at any time , within each elevator ( and

            their travel intentions )

and adjust their stopping / halting pattern accordingly  , automatically

            without human intervention !

SubjectA COMPREHENSIVE BEST SOLUTION

BEST  getting  BETTER  ?

While welcoming this passenger-friendly initiative , I urge Shri Bagde , to go for a COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTION  by implementing my following suggestion ( emailed earlier on 15  Feb  2016 ) :

https://myblogepage.blogspot.com/2016/02/public-transport-as-solution.html

If all of my suggestions get implemented, Mumbai’s BEST can become a BENCHMARK for Municipal Corporations of Delhi – Kolkata – Chennai and other Metro Cities

Thank You , Shri Bagde

Shri Surendrakumar Bagde – General Manager – BEST / gm@bestundertaking.com / Tel - +91-22-22856262

For what  ?

For implementing my suggestion for a passenger-friendly  BEST transport  system

sent as email to Shri Bagde on 15  Feb 2016 )

Public transport as a solution  ?

Dear Shri Bagdeji,

While congratulating you on this very “ commuter – friendly “ innovation , I urge you to examine the feasibility of also implementing , item # 1  / # 2  /  # 3 , listed above

Having set a BENCH-MARK for Public Transport undertakings all over the country, I urge you to persuade the Central Transport Minister , Shri Gadkariji, to examine implementation of :

Transport : an Integrated Logistic Plan ?

Ø  Thank You Shri Gahlotji    …………………………………….. 15  July  2021

Extract :

Dear Shri Gahlotji,

I am sure, if requested , Google CEO , Sundar Pichai ( sundar@google.com ) will be too happy to modify the mobile app as suggested by me

And, he will say :

"  There is no need to fix a Tablet behind each seat. Just one smart tablet fixed near the entrance of each bus should suffice

Each boarding passenger will enter ( simply by touching ) his destination on his own Mobile App and then hold the mobile against that tablet at the entrance

We will even be able to transmit this "  Destination / Dis-embarkation "  data to each and every bus stop on the route AND display that number on the indicator at each bus-stop

And we will offer this ITMS ( Intelligent Transport Management System ) to all Indian cities

A Tale of 3 AI

I asked following question to the following Artificial Intelligence portals :

“  What is my duty according to Bagavad Gita ? “

I got following replies :

www.Personal.ai

Ans :

According to the Bhagavad Gita, it is our duty as citizens to bring any technology-

related news to the attention of those in authority.

ChatGPT

Ans :

The Bhagavad Gita teaches that our duty or dharma is determined by our nature and social status, and it is our obligation to fulfill it with devotion and without attachment to the fruits of our actions.

The ultimate goal is to achieve spiritual liberation and union with the divine.

One's duty should be performed selflessly, with an attitude of service and surrender to the divine.

The verse 2.47 of the Bhagavad Gita states :

"Do thy work, O Arjuna, with an even mind, abandoning all attachment, and be even-minded in success and failure. Such an evenness of mind is called Yoga."

https://bhagavadgita.ai/

Ans :

Krishna

08:11

Radhey Radhey !

According to the Bhagavad Gita, your duty is to perform your actions without attachment to the results.

This means that you should do your best in whatever you do, but not be attached to the outcome.

You should also strive to be free from ego and selfishness, and to act with compassion and love.

My  Take :

I am attached to the outcome of my Karma – hence I have failed to imbibe the

essence of the teachings of Lord Krishna, in their entirety

But, I believe, for the past 10 years, I have been faithfully doing what

www.Personal.ai interprets as to “ what is my duty

For past 10 years, I have been emailing most of my blogs to our Cabinet Ministers

/ NITI Aayog / State Chief Ministers / Think Tanks and other Policy Makers

Many of these emails provide details about latest / emerging technologies and

urge the Government to adopt the same to solve Political – Economic – Societal

 problems

So far, sending of emails ( some of which seem to be getting read and acted upon

 ) , was a kind of MONOGUE – a one way traffic

To turn this into a DIALOGUE ( - a two way CONVVERSATION ) , I just launched  :

www.hemenparekh.ai

On this platform, anyone can :

Ø  Come and ask a Question ( “ Hey Hemen, what are your views on……….. “ ) , to

my Digital Avatar – and get an instant answer !

Ø  Then “ RATE “ that answer as being “ Relevant “ or “ Irrelevant “ ( feedback to

    teach my Digital Avatar )

Come One , Come All  !

My Digital Avatar can “ listen “ to a thousand questions simultaneously – and give

replies to those thousand visitors , AT THE SAME TIME – instantaneously !

Hey !

You too can create YOUR digital avatar. Just find out by visiting

Mr Harari , You are right

Context :

I’m more worried about the dangers of natural stupidity than AI: Harari      /   TNN   /  12  Feb  2023

Extract :

He also held forth on the evolutionary consequences of interbreeding between Homo sapiens and Neanderthals. And on the dangers of social media, and the role new technologies like artificial intelligence and big data play in manipulating and controlling us. “I’m more worried about the dangers of natural stupidity than of artificial intelligence,” he said. “We already know that AI can pick up racism and homophobia and misogyny, from the data it is trained on – so, yes, it can learn from our natural stupidity.”

Technology also ends up skewing our priorities and distorting our yearning for acceptance and validation. “Being valued doesn’t depend on how many followers you have, or how much money is lying in your account,” cautioned Harari.

Dear Mr Harari,

You are so very right

Here is what I wrote in one of my blogs :

Artificial Intelligence or Natural Stupidity ? ……………………   06 Nov 2017

But, instead of ARTIFICIAL INTELIGENCE, destroying the humans in some distant future , what is far more likely is that the human-race will destroy itself by its very own NATURAL STUPIDITY  !

Just look around you and count the number of persons dying prematurely due to :

·         Toxic Chemicals polluting Rivers

·         Coal based Power Plants polluting Air

·         Traffic Noise Polluting environment

·         Lack of Hygiene causing Preventable Diseases

·         Tobacco-induced Cancer

·         Drugs-induced Depressions

·         Global Warming causing Heat-waves / Floods / destruction of Glaciers

·         Plastic waste killing Marine Life

·         Destruction of Mangroves causing Floods

·         Construction / Mining destroying Forests

·         Hunger for Power causing Civil Wars

·         Intolerance causing Militancy / Ethnic Cleansing

·         Wars ( in the name of Religions ?  ) killing millions

·         Alcohol induced fatal Road / Rail Accidents

·         Poverty causing Starvation – Malnutrition ( root of most problems )

·         Indebtedness causing Farmers Suicides

·         Dowry Deaths – Murders – Rapes

This is not a complete list !

And I am not counting deaths due to so-called “ Natural Disasters “ ( more often

than not , caused by human folly or greed ! )

Just ask a 2 year old starving child in Yemen – Myanmar – Syria – Libya – Central Africa – India  ( or any place of your choice ) :

“ Are you worried about AI killing you , 10 years from now ? “

 She will reply :

 “ No !  I am dying right NOW  !

Dear Mr Harari,

And what you and I have said, seems to be contradicted by my own Digital Avatar

( www.hemenparekh.ai  ), launched just 2 days ago , whom I asked :

“ What poses greater danger to mankind - Artificial Intelligence or Natural

 Stupidity ? “

It ( ? ) gave following answer :

“There is no clear answer, as both artificial intelligence and natural stupidity can

be dangerous to humanity.

However, it is worth noting that artificial intelligence has the potential to

become much more powerful than natural stupidity, and thus may pose a

greater threat to humanity in the long run. “

But, my Avatar is talking “ in the long run

For the moment , we are right !

Hemen Parekh
