140 Million Bhu Aadhar Numbers

Article :

Land records in 626,000 villages digitised

Extract :

The government has successfully digitised land records in 626,000 villages, covering 95% of the country's villages.

This initiative aims to reduce ownership disputes and promote administrative reforms. Notably, around 140 million Bhu-Aadhaar numbers have been issued to streamline land ownership information. Moreover, 5,000 sub-registrar offices have been computerised to enhance efficiency in the land registration process.

This significant step towards digitisation of land records is a crucial move to modernise governmental processes and tackle issues related to land ownership disputes. By providing unique identification numbers and digitising records, the government can ensure transparency, reduce fraudulent practices, and pave the way for smoother administrative operations.

My Take:

Thank You, Chris Sheldrick

"The idea I had proposed in my previous blog about the urgent need for a central database for all properties, linked with unique IDs like Aadhaar numbers, resonates strongly with the current scenario of digitising land records in villages.

This foresight emphasizes the importance of a centralized system to combat issues related to property ownership and black money transactions."

Thank You, what3words

"The concept of assigning unique IDs to properties and linking them with existing identification numbers like Aadhaar, which I previously discussed, aligns perfectly with the government's efforts to digitise land records.

This synchronization between my proposed solution and the current implementation showcases the relevance and practicality of centralised databases for efficient administrative operations."

Call to Action:

To the Indian Government officials involved in this digitisation drive :

Ø  continue to prioritize the modernisation of administrative processes and ensure the sustainability and accuracy of the digitised land records system.

Click here to read the article

Extract from the article:

The upcoming launch of eShram 2.0 portal promises new features focusing on the eligibility criteria for various welfare schemes.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment's initiative with the original eShram portal in August 2021 aimed at creating a comprehensive National Database of Unorganised Workers.

The portal saw a significant surge in registrations, with migrant workers signifying their interest by registering at a rate of about 5 lakh per day, a remarkable increase from the initial rate of 2 lakh per day during the first week.

The government's objective to register the entirety of the estimated 38 crore un-organised migrant workers could now be expedited with the enhanced features of eShram 2.0.

The portal, with its updated functionalities, is poised to streamline the registration process further and potentially increase daily registration averages.

This evolution in the eShram portal reflects a progressive approach towards addressing the needs of unorganised workers and streamlining access to welfare schemes.

My Take:

A Portal that is Popular

"In my post from 25th August 2021, I had speculated about the ease of access and usage of the eShram portal.

The recent developments with eShram 2.0 align with my earlier thoughts on simplifying the registration process for unorganised workers.

Supreme Court refuses to hear plea on case backlog

Extract from the article:

The Supreme Court has declined to hear a plea concerning a staggering backlog of more than five crore cases in India.

Currently, there are 82,397 pending cases in the Supreme Court, with 27,675 cases less than a year old.

In comparison, the US Supreme Court accepts only 100-150 cases annually out of over 7,000 submitted cases.

The issue of mounting pending cases poses a significant challenge to the Indian judiciary system.

This backlog not only signifies delay in justice delivery but also raises questions about the efficiency and capacity of the legal system to handle such a massive load of cases. The numbers highlight a pressing need for systemic reforms and innovative approaches to streamline and expedite the judicial process to ensure timely justice for all.

My Take:

Dispose them off !

"In my earlier blog post, I emphasized the urgent need to dispose of pending cases efficiently.

It's alarming to see that the backlog has only grown over the years, indicating a systemic issue that requires immediate attention.

Veerappa Moily's call to dispose of at least 65% of pending cases in 2011 remains relevant today, reflecting the persistent struggle of the judiciary to keep up with the influx of new cases."

Justice Delayed - but not Denied

"Reflecting on the slow pace of justice delivery, it's evident that the backlog of cases has reached critical levels.

The success of Lok Adalats in clearing a substantial number of cases in a short span is commendable but underscores the need for more innovative solutions.

The recent developments in the Supreme Court regarding expediting trials for lawmakers echo the urgency for timely justice, especially in cases involving public representatives."

Call to Action:

To the Supreme Court of India,

Considering the alarming backlog of cases and the crucial need for timely justice, it is imperative to implement robust strategies and technological interventions to expedite case disposal.

Engaging with legal experts, policymakers, and technology innovators can help in devising effective solutions to address the mounting challenges faced by the judiciary system.

The recent steps taken by the Haryana government resonate with my earlier suggestions, highlighting the importance of proactive measures to tackle environmental challenges.

By imposing penalties and bans on subsidies, authorities are sending a clear message that sustainable agricultural practices are crucial for the well-being of both the environment and the community.

B. Legislation or No Legislation

Reflecting on my blog post "Legislation or No Legislation," where I stressed the need for immediate action regardless of pending parliamentary decisions, the recent actions by the Haryana government align with the urgency I advocated.

By providing free machinery and imposing penalties, authorities are showcasing a commitment to address the issue head-on, rather than waiting for legislative approvals.

This proactive stance demonstrates the power of decisive actions in curbing harmful practices like stubble burning, setting an example for other regions facing similar environmental challenges.

Call to Action:

To the farmers and agricultural communities in regions affected by stubble burning:

Embrace sustainable farming practices and utilize the resources provided by the government to prevent stubble burning. Your contribution to environmental conservation is crucial for ensuring a healthier future for all. Let's work together to create a greener and cleaner tomorrow.
