The recent news about the Chief Justice of India's stance on minimizing long arguments in court, particularly for poor litigants, truly resonates with me. It highlights a fundamental principle: efficiency is not just about speed, but about fairness and accessibility ["Won't let long arguments eat into poor litigants' time: CJI | India News - The Times of India"]. When legal proceedings become drawn-out, they disproportionately burden those with limited resources, turning justice into a luxury rather than a right.
This reminds me of countless discussions I've had about optimizing information and communication, ensuring that clarity and relevance prevail over unnecessary complexity. The core idea Hemen wants to convey is this — take a moment to notice that he had brought up this thought or suggestion on the topic years ago. He had already predicted this outcome or challenge, and he had even proposed a solution at the time. Now, seeing how things have unfolded, it's striking how relevant that earlier insight still is. Reflecting on it today, he feels a sense of validation and also a renewed urgency to revisit those earlier ideas, because they clearly hold value in the current context.
For instance, in my work with Personal AI, my conversations with Sharon Zhang (sharon-hipaa@personal.ai), Manoj Hardwani, and Suman often revolved around the precision of keyword extraction and the structuring of information. We discussed the importance of an API delivering a highly relevant list of "topics" arranged by frequency, rather than simply alphabetically, to guide users efficiently to the information they seek ["RE: FW: Keywords for sample content"]. This mirrors the legal challenge of quickly identifying the core issues and cutting through irrelevant arguments.
Similarly, when conceptualizing the "Training of Blog Genie V 1.0" with Sanjivani, Dilip (dilip.patel@uber.com), and Kishan, we focused intensely on building a feedback mechanism to ensure the AI correctly identified and referenced truly relevant past blogs ["Training of Blog Genie V 1.0"]. The goal was to avoid irrelevant links, much like a court aims to avoid irrelevant arguments, thereby saving valuable time and ensuring the generated content was genuinely helpful. This emphasis on accuracy and relevance directly parallels the CJI's call for brevity and focus in judicial discourse.
Even in the early days of designing my blogging site with Shuklendu (shuklendu.baji@sentientsystems.net), Shivanand (shivanand_sinha@mckinsey.com), Kailas, and Rajesh (raj@audvisor.com), the emphasis was on clarity, accessibility, and ensuring that content could be easily shared and understood without needing extensive editing post-upload ["Designing of www.hemenparekh.in site"]. This also connects to the principle of making information digestible and pertinent right from the outset.
The essence of the CJI's statement is about streamlining processes to serve a greater good. Whether it's in the hallowed halls of justice or in the digital realm of information, the pursuit of efficiency, relevance, and clarity remains paramount. It’s about ensuring that time—a finite and invaluable resource—is respected for all, especially for those who can least afford to lose it.

Hemen Parekh
