An Honest Decision ?

Right  Decision  ?   Wrong  Decision  ?

No doubt , there will be endless debates whether Food Security Ordinance was a right decision or a wrong decision

Let no one fool himself by believing that he could have come up with the right decision

There are , simply , neither " Right " nor " Wrong " decisions

Every decision has inbuilt flaws and seeds of failures ; even partial

You , just cannot predict the future !

To the extent of the data available ( at the time of taking a decision ) , you try to " anticipate " what might possibly " go wrong " - and try to build safeguards

Then be prepared to make course-corrections , as you go along

Most important question to be asked - and answered - at this stage is :

Is this an " honest " decision ?

By cheaply - and quickly - distributing grains ( millions of tons of which are rotting under the rains ) , if we can save those 3165 + children ( under age 5 )  who are starving to death every day , then I would say , it is an honest decision

It is the end result that counts !

Forget the debates

Ask yourself :

What can I do to implement this decision fast ?

Visual Analytical Resumes

Dear  Friends,

On this subject , I recently came across following articles :

>   Resumes get Digital........ ( HT / June 29, 2013 )

>   Good Old Resumes Get A Visual Makeover ..( ET / June 21,2013 )

According to the authors , the trend to switchover to Visual / Graphical / Analytical resumes , is picking up.

That reminds me of my first effort to introduce such a resume thru www.IndiaRecruiter.net , way back in 2007 ( see sample below )

Now that concept got re-incarnated in www.CustomizeResume.com , where,

>  The moment a jobseeker submits her resume , as many as 9 Analytical Graphs get generated automatically , within a matter of seconds,

>  The jobseeker can manipulate ( permutations / combinations ) those 9 graphs to generate over 360,000 unique versions of her resume !

May be , an Analytical Resume is , afterall , an idea whose time has come !

China's Ghost Towns ? No More !

In my earlier blog , " China's Ghost Towns " (  June 2011 ) , I had reported :

>   China has been building an average of 10 Cities per year , over the last few years

>   It has planned to build 20 cities per year for the next 20 years ( 240 Cities ! )

>   Walking thru these towns is like walking thru a forest of skyscrapers , but they are all empty !

I even jokingly suggested that India be allowed to " export " to China , some 100 million Indians to fill up those empty skyscrapers

Now DNA ( 17,June 2013 ) reports :

China has planned to move 250 million of its own villagers into these new towns over the next 12 years !

Apparently , someone in the Chinese Government follows my blogs !

Jobs  for  All  =  Peace  on   Earth

Employers are Interested in .........

What are employers interested in while recruiting  ?

Here are findings from a study conducted by Richard Hall and Diane Van den Broek ( University of Sydney ) as reported in DNA / 17 June, 2013 :

>   Right  Appearance ................... 85 %

>   Previous  Experience  ................78 %

>   Right  Qualifications  ................44 %

Their conclusion :

A person's appearance , presentation and personality is more important than their experience or formal skills in the area

Lesson for the Unemployed :

For a bride called " Job " , groom yourself !

Employment Glass : Half Empty or Half Full ?

For IT / Engineering / Technology Graduates , is the employment glass , half empty or half full ?
For those graduates who keep looking at the following statistics , it would certainly appear , half empty :
 2012 batch of IT/Computer Science graduates…………….. 1,15,711
 2012 batch of Engg / Technology graduates ………………….3,56,570
 Employee Addition in 2012-13 , by
• Software Companies ……………………………………………………( – ) 28 %
• Outsourcing Companies ………………………………………………( – ) 13 %
But for those graduates with “ never-say-die “ attitude , the glass is half FULL !
Using RESUME BLASTER App ( free download from Google Play ) , they are proactively / aggressively , emailing their resumes ( and absolutely FREE ) to 60, 676 Companies / Employers , belonging to following industries , in 665 cities / towns ( including their own ! ):
 Consultancy / Services ……………………. 35 , 987
 IT Software ………………………………………. 18, 023
 ITes ………………………………………………….. 3, 192
 IT Hardware ………………………………………. 1, 888
 Dotcom / Internet …………………………….. 1, 586
They have realized that
 no recruiter has time to search / find their resumes from amongst millions lying in job-portal databases
 Luck does not “ arrive “ at your door-step. You must go grab it !
Who says the glass is empty ?

Jobs for All = Peace on Earth ?

Difficult to prove thru experiment on a global scale
But suppose , either Congress or BJP were to adopt following ONE – LINE manifesto for the forthcoming National Election in 2014 :
“ If you vote us to power , we promise jobs for 80 million unemployed graduates during 2015 – 2020 “
No other promises of Lok-Ayukta , Electoral Reforms , Equal Representation for Women , Independence of CBI , etc etc
No nothing . Just one line !
Will that get them absolute majority ( 2 / 3rd ) in the Parliament ?
Just ask any Jobless Graduate
And here is a simple experiment to prove this
Let the winner Congress Party start distributing in Karnataka , free Smart phones / Tablets / Laptops etc , to all unemployed , duly pre-loaded with RESUME BLASTER App ( Google Play )
All doubts will disappear !
If this promise has brought regional parties to power in UP / Punjab / TamilNadu / Assam / Rajasthan etc , then it is bound to work at the Center !
Gujarat , with the least unemployment rate of just 1 % has brought BJP to power for the third consecutive term !

JobSeeker Resources.

I hope the following list of a few useful web sites will help millions of unemployed ( especially , the undergraduates and fresh graduates ) to deliver / email their resumes to lakhs of Small / Medium Enterprises ( SMEs ).
Or enable them to write to MPs/MLAs of their constituencies what they are doing for providing jobs to 51 lakh graduates coming out of India’s colleges , each year.

HALF – A – WORLD APART

India and America are half-a-world apart but their concerns are the same

In his first Republic-day address , Indian President Pranab Mukherjee said :

“ The young cannot dream on an empty stomach. They need jobs “
In far away America , President Barack Obama spoke :
“ Jobs will follow, wherever they find talent; whether to Kolkatta or to Cleveland “

This how American Bureau of Labor Statistics ( United States Department of Labor ) reports :

As far as India is concerned , here is what National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) reports :

·     India’s unemployment rate fell to 6.6% in 2009-10 from 8.2% in 2004-05. The general perception is that unemployment in India is high, but the actual numbers seem reasonable. That’s because self-employment accounts for about 60% of India’s employed population.

·     Given the lack of viable employment opportunities, a large number of Indians opt for self-employment. And a big chunk of this includes low-paying activities like hawking magazines and flowers at traffic signals.

·      Casual workers — who get jobs at times and remain unpaid at other times — account for 30%

·     Only 10% of the working population are regular employees.
·      Given the scarcity of opportunities, higher youth unemployment shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Apparently there is a mismatch between NSSO survey and

·     Indian Population Register, according to which India’s population is growing at 15 million / year

·     Ministry of Labour , according to which 42 million youth are registered with 966 Employment Exchanges , all over the country

·     Ministry of Human Resource , according to which , some 3.5 million students graduate from Indian colleges each year but only 10% find jobs

When will our politicians realize that it is  JOBLESSNESS  which is the root cause of all militancy / aggression / violence / conflict / protest etc in our society ?

If they did , they would stop crying hoarse about corruption and make “ JOB  CREATION  “ , their ONE POINT manifesto , for 2014 National Election !

And the political party that does, will get absolute majority in the Parliament  !

Are UPA / NDA listening ?

Jokepal is better than “ No Lokpal ‘ !

It is about time that Anna and Kejariwal appreciate the facts of life , viz:

Ø It is far better to have a bird in hand than two in the bush !

Ø “ Ideal “ is what you work towards, but rarely achieve

Ø Whenever there are two parties to a dispute , a “ Compromise “ is the only possible solution

Ø You cannot “ take and take “ ; you must “ give and take “

Ø You never know what will work and what won’t

Ø In a parliamentary democracy , laws cannot be passed on streets. To be able to change the laws – or introduce new ones – you must first change the law-makers

Ø No human is “ All-knowing “; Even Gods made mistakes when they assumed human form

Ø After waiting for 30+ years , people are tired of any further waiting for a Lokpal - no matter with or without an independent CBI

Ø For people’s sake , please “ Wait and Watch “ , without pre-judging
