Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

EQUATION

25 June 2010

EQUATION

Scientists from the universities in Holland , USA and UK

have developed following equation for riding a bike :

Inertia Forces  +  Gyroscopic Forces  +  Effect of Gravity &

Centrifugal Forces

=

The leaning of the body  +  The torque applied to the

handlebars of a bike .

It took them last 3 years to develop this equation.

In the same period, jobseekers everywhere are discovering

following equation :

Getting a job  +  Retaining a job  +  Not getting laid-off

=

Sheer luck  +  Work performance  +  Salary Freeze  +  No

Outsourcing

Have I left out any other factors ?

CLIFF ARNALL ( A FORMER CARDIFF UNIVERSITY LECTURER ) SAYS :

23 June 2010

CLIFF ARNALL ( A FORMER CARDIFF UNIVERSITY LECTURER ) SAYS :

·         Work less and spend more time with people you love.

·         People should not be asking: “ How much do I earn ? “ but “ How happy am I ? “

He has even formulated an equation for happiness as follows:

Happiness = O + ( N * S ) + Cpm / T + He

where

O        =    Outdoors

N        =    Nature

S        =    Social Interaction

Cpm   =    Childhood Summer Memories

T        =    Temperature

He      =    Holiday Excitement

I suspect that for a great number of jobless people all over

the world , the most relevant equation right now, would be :

H  (  happiness  )  =  J  (  Job  )   =  M  ( for myself  )

For these millions, happiness is not a “ state of mind “ ,but a

 “ state of body “ !

JOBSEEKERS ARE WONDERING

JOBSEEKERS ARE WONDERING

Are jobseekers right in asking?

Where is the level playing field?

63 years after Independence, Indian Recruiters are still asking the candidates,

·                What community do you belong to?

·                What does your father do for living?

·                Which is your home state?

·                Why did you divorce?

·                What is your mother tongue?

·                Who is prime minister of Hungary?

Jobseekers are wondering :

" Does my work-performance in this Organization depend upon what my answers are ? "

Am I exaggerating? Has anyone faced more irrelevant questions?

And do questions get “ tailored “ to the candidate sitting across the recruiters ?

And what questions are Recruiters elsewhere asking ?

CHICKEN FIRST OR EGG ?

16 June 2010

CHICKEN FIRST OR EGG  ?

That is today's fresh graduate's dilemma.

Recruiters are saying :

" One year since graduation and still  unemployed ? "

Having no experience stands out as the biggest disqualification !

With a long queue of candidates waiting in the hall, the fresh graduate dare not ask :

" How can I get any experience unless I get my  first job ? "

For more than 50 years, I am telling fresh graduates to grab the very first job-offer, no matter how irrelevant.

Get experience. Get qualified. Then keep trying.

PROBABILITIES

PROBABILITIES

According to a recent British study, the probabilities of what your children may become when they grow-up, are as follows:

  • A  Rock-Star………………for your first child

  • A  Prime Minister……….for your second child

  • A  Film Actor……………..for your third child

What parents in UK / USA /  Everywhere,  would like to ask  the researchers is :

" What is the probability of my child becoming an " Employee " when she grows up ?

Or, will she end up applying for jobs on leading job-portals for most of her adult life ? – praying / hoping ?

Do researchers understand the cruel irony of life in 2010 ?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO

5 June 2010

WHAT WOULD YOU DO

If you are a HR Manager

And have no time to sort through hundreds of Irrelevant resumes presented to you during resume-search on all jobsites and even less time to read through thousands of pages of poorly written 'fiction' (faked/ fudged resumes)

I suppose you would want a Recruitment Software which would
  • Read / Rate / Rank and arrange those resumes in the descending order of  relevance
You would want " Resume  Rater "

Just head for Google.

VENTURESOME

VENTURESOME

How come some jobseekers are more venturesome than the others ?

For example the following executives who blasted their resumes from
                          www.CustomizeResume.com

·                  Rajesh Ramamoorthy………………………..83

·                  Prashant Sahay………………………………….56

·                  Manish Patel……………………………………….44

·                  Goutam Mukherjee…………………………….42

The numbers against their names indicate the no. of times their resumes got viewed by Recruitment Managers ( look-up  Latest Resumes ).

I suspect each of them received at least 5 interview calls !

For once, it is easy to  Market Yourself.

And absolutely FREE.
