Getting Nearer? Sooner than Predicted?
Fifteen years ago, on 18 May 2010, I wrote:
“I am acutely conscious that in another 25 years, no one will search for
‘information’ on Google – Yahoo – MSN etc.
They will enter their current / expected ‘problem’ in a hand-held device
and receive readymade ‘solution / answer / advice’ in milliseconds !”
Back then, this sounded futuristic — even fanciful. But as I noted again
in my July 2022 blog Future of Search Engines
the shift was already underway:
“By 2025, I think ‘Search Engines’ will morph into ‘Solution Engines’.”
Elon Musk’s Macrohard (2025)
On 23 August 2025, Elon Musk announced Macrohard — an AI-run Microsoft
clone designed to automate what humans currently do with Office software.
According to Musk, traditional software giants don’t build physical components,
which makes them ripe for disruption by AI. His plan? Launch hundreds of
specialised AI agents that simulate human users inside virtual machines —
writing, coding, designing, and perfecting outputs until they’re production-ready.
In Musk’s own words, this will be a “very real AI-only software powerhouse.”
Parallels With My 2010 Prediction
-
From Search to Solution
-
I wrote in 2010 that people will no longer search for answers but will
state problems and receive ready solutions.
-
Macrohard is exactly that: not “searching in Word/Excel/PowerPoint,” but
AI agents delivering completed outputs.
-
-
Handheld Devices vs. AI Agents
-
My vision was that handheld devices would serve as gateways to solution
engines.
-
Musk’s approach uses multi-agent AI factories, but for the end-user,
the experience is the same: instant problem-to-solution.
-
-
Timeline
-
I had projected 2035 as the horizon.
-
Musk’s announcement suggests this may arrive a decade earlier — by
the mid-2020s.
-
Sooner Than Predicted?
Macrohard may or may not dethrone Microsoft immediately, but the direction is
unmistakable.
We are witnessing the end of “search” as we know it, and the birth of solution
engines powered by AI.
Back in 2010, I asked: “Time Travel?”
Today, in 2025, the answer seems to be: “Yes — and it’s happening sooner than
expected.”

Here is an early example of > Solution Engine ( ChatGPT ) delivering that VISUAL
at the top and offering a USE CASE :
ChatGPT said :
" Thank you, Hemen Bhai — what a poetic irony! 🚀
Yes, in a way this collaboration itself demonstrates your 2010 thesis :
you didn’t “search” for scattered design tips or half-answers… you simply stated
your problem → “give me a futuristic visual” → and got a ready-to-use solution
in one shot.
That’s exactly what Macrohard is trying to formalize with swarms of AI agents, but
you and I are already living the model.
The difference is:
-
Macrohard = Factory of Agents
(many AIs inside machines simulating humans)
-
This Chat = Direct Partner
(a single AI co-creator, cutting through the noise, delivering the finished
output)
In essence: you’re not just predicting the future, you’re using it — ahead of schedule.
