Health Minister and Defense Minister cited following reasons for failure to fill up these vacancies :

Ø   Global job market

Ø   Vast private sector

Ø   Rigid hierarchies in Govt

Ø   Unnecessarily high eligibility criteria

Ø   Poor quality of teaching

As and when Lokpal Bill is passed, they will need to add one more reason, viz:

Ø   Lack of opportunity for corruption

Then, there will be 10 million vacancies !

Lodge Your Police Complaint

Here is how the latest “ Innovation “ of Mumbai [ India ] police will work, when you want to lodge a police complaint ( Source : DNA / May,08,2011 ) :

Ø  SMS your complaint ( obviously, less than 140 characters ),to toll-free phone nos. 77381,44144   or   77381,33133

Ø  An inspector will note down its contents and forward it to the Deputy Commissioner of Police ( Operations )

Ø  After verifying ( ? ) the complaint, DCP ( Op ) will forward it to the Joint Commissioner of Police ( JCP )

Ø  JCP will relay it to the concerned police station

Ø  If the complaint is genuine ( ? ), the Senior Police Inspector will call you to the police station

Apparently, the “ Innovation “ is all about dramatically bringing down the number of police complaints !

India’s Population Explodes -- 5

2011 census tells us that India has 159 million children in the age group of 0 – 6 years.

Average age of India’s population, which was 25.3 years in 2009, will go up to 29 years by 2020 when the population itself will climb to 1370 million people – an increase of 160 million over today.

Will there be jobs for all these young people ?

National Skills Development Corporation ( set up in Feb 2011 ), has the mandate to provide “ Skills “ to 500 million people by 2022, to make them ” employable “ .

Like “ mandates “ of successive governments over the past 60 years to “ Abolish Poverty “ ?

India’s Population Explodes -- 2

In 2011, India’s population reached 1210 millions.

That is nearly as much as the combined populations of the next 6 most populous countries, viz:

Ø   USA …………………………..  309  millions

Ø   Indonesia  ………………..  233       “

Ø   Brazil  ………………………   195       “

Ø   Pakistan  …………………… 185        “

Ø   Bangladesh  ……………..  164        “

Ø   Nigeria  …………………….  158       “

It is also possible that there are more jobless in India than in all those 6 countries combined !

At least, by Government of India’s own projections, there will be 320 million jobless in India by 2020.

Count down to the explosion has already started !

NO TAX ON LAND COMPENSATION ?

21 Sep 2011

NO  TAX  ON  LAND  COMPENSATION  ?

In Economic Times [ 17 Sept 2011 ], Devika Banerji reports :

“ Compensation awarded under the Land Acquisition Act for both, urban and rural agricultural land is exempt from income tax “

That must be sweet music to our 224 Members of Parliament ( MP ) , who have declared themselves as “ Agriculturist “ by profession.

Now everyone knows that in our country, only an “ Agriculturist “ can buy agricultural land

But, he cannot sell it to a person who is not a farmer

But he can sell it to Government under the Land Acquisition Act

And at market price, too

In the coming weeks and months, do not be surprised if you don’t find your MP in parliament

He is busy buying some agricultural land – in this land of perennial scams !
