Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

Wearable Future: Style, Health, AI

Wearable Future: Style, Health, AI

I've always been fascinated by the convergence of technology and our daily lives, particularly how devices seamlessly integrate into our personal space. The recent unveiling of the Titan Smart Evoke 2.0 smartwatch by Titan Smart, as reported on Gogi.in, has certainly caught my attention Smart Never Looked This Good: Titan Smart Unveils Evoke 2.0. It's presented as a device where modern craftsmanship meets cutting-edge technology, redefining how fashion and functionality coexist on your wrist. This vision resonates deeply with my long-standing reflections on the future of wearables.

The Evoke 2.0, with its comprehensive health and wellness tracking, including continuous heart-rate and SpO₂ monitoring, advanced sleep analysis, and guided recommendations via the Titan Smart App, points towards a future I have often contemplated. The core idea I want to convey is this — take a moment to notice that I had brought up thoughts on the evolution of self-powered wearables and sophisticated health monitoring years ago. In my blog post, "Future Shape of Smart Watch ?" [http://mylinkedinposting.blogspot.com/2024/12/future-shape-of-smart-watch.html], I discussed breakthroughs in flexible thermoelectric generators designed to harvest body heat for power, as well as electronic skin powered by sweat for health monitoring Electronic Skin Fully Powered By Sweat Can Monitor Health. The Evoke 2.0, while still requiring charging, is a significant step towards a wearable that truly becomes a "complete wellness companion," continuously gathering vital insights. Reflecting on it today, I feel a sense of validation for those earlier insights, and a renewed urgency to revisit how we can achieve true self-sustainability in wearables.

Mr. Seenivasan Krishnamurthy, Business Head – Smart Wearables, Titan Company Limited, articulated this vision perfectly, stating that with Evoke 2.0, "Titan Smart reaffirms its vision of creating smartwatches that seamlessly merge premium fashion with the latest technology." This emphasis on both elegance and intelligence—from the 43mm precision-crafted metal case and brilliant Super AMOLED display to the versatile dual-tone magnetic strap and 3D dynamic watch faces—highlights the brand's commitment to aesthetics without compromising on advanced features.

However, as wearables become more sophisticated and deeply integrated into our lives, the conversation around their capabilities must also extend to their societal implications. The Evoke 2.0's intuitive smart experience, seamlessly connecting with the Titan Smart App for real-time insights, brings to mind my earlier predictions about a future where smartphones might become obsolete, replaced by even more intimate, AI-powered wearable devices. In my blog, "Dear PM : Introspection won’t help / Technospection will" [http://myblogepage.blogspot.com/2023/05/dear-pm-introspection-wont-help.html], I envisioned a time when we might "discard our Smartphones" for tiny, AI-powered devices. The Humane AI wearable, developed by former Apple employees Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno (bethany@humane.com), showcased this potential by projecting interfaces onto the user's hands.

With such intimate health monitoring and data collection, the critical importance of privacy and ethical design cannot be overstated. I had previously raised concerns about privacy in "My New Apple Watch is a Privacy Nightmare" [http://mylinkedinposting.blogspot.com/2019/12/my-new-apple-watch-is-privacy-nightmare.html], highlighting how easily such devices could lead to unintended surveillance. The advanced sensors and algorithms in devices like the Evoke 2.0 offer immense benefits, but they also underscore the need for robust frameworks to safeguard individual data and ensure transparency. As we embrace this dynamic modern lifestyle enabled by such smartwear, we must also ensure that technology serves us in a way that truly enhances our well-being and preserves our personal autonomy.
