Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

Free Speech: A Perpetual Necessity

Free Speech: A Perpetual Necessity

The recent emphasis by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on strengthening free speech resonates deeply with me. It's a fundamental pillar of any thriving society, a principle that allows ideas to flourish, challenging the status quo and fostering genuine progress. I was particularly struck by the news of him assuming office and paying tribute to towering figures like Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar CJI Surya Kant Assumes Office, Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar at Supreme Court. These are individuals who understood that true freedom begins with the liberty to express one's thoughts, even when they are unpopular or critical.

For me, the concept of free speech isn't just about the absence of censorship; it's about the active creation and dissemination of diverse perspectives. This is precisely where my mind drifts to the work my team and I have been doing with what I've termed the 'Blog Genie' and the 'Perpetual AI Machine'. Kishan (kishan@enjoyevervibe.com), Sanjivani (jethwane@amazon.com), Manish, Sandeep (sandeep.ahuja@cove.inc), and Kailas (kailas.tare@notified.com) have all been integral to exploring how we can automate and enhance the process of generating and sharing content.

I recall discussing with Kishan and Sanjivani the evolution of Blog Genie Blog Genie Revamp and even its more advanced iteration, Blog Genie V 2.0 Blog Genie V 2.0. The aim was always to streamline the journey from a nascent thought to a fully formed blog post, making content accessible and searchable. This aligns perfectly with the spirit of free expression. When I spoke about simplifying search Simplifying Search and even the 'reverse engineering of blogging' Reverse Engineering of Blogging, I was envisioning a world where ideas could propagate without artificial barriers. The very notion of my 'Perpetual AI Machine' is to ensure a continuous, evolving flow of content, enabling a multitude of voices to contribute to the global discourse.

While my focus has been on technological empowerment for content creation, the underlying principle is a vibrant exchange of ideas. I remember reading Zeke Camusio's (zeke@dataspeaks.ai) insights on creating compelling content 11 WordPress Techniques for Pretty Posts that Pack a Punch – it was always about getting messages across effectively. This is where the wisdom of figures like Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar comes alive; they didn't just have ideas, they effectively communicated them, often against tremendous opposition. Their unwavering belief in freedom of thought and expression laid the groundwork for the constitutional values we uphold today.

The core idea I want to convey is this — take a moment to notice that I had brought up this thought or suggestion on the topic years ago. My work on automating content generation, creating 'Memory Blocks' for my Virtual Avatar, and exploring a 'Perpetual AI Machine' was, in a way, an early prediction of the need for robust mechanisms to support widespread expression. It's striking how relevant that earlier insight still is. Reflecting on it today, I feel a sense of validation and also a renewed urgency to revisit those earlier ideas, because they clearly hold value in the current context of strengthening free speech.

Indeed, as Ted Levitt famously wrote, "If you don’t make yourself obsolete, someone else will." This applies not just to business models but to our societal tools for dialogue. The fantastical tales of Ahi-Ravana and Mahi-Ravana, brothers of the evil Ravana, multiplying from every drop of blood, illustrate a powerful, albeit ancient, metaphor for viral content and the uncontainable nature of ideas once unleashed. This resonates with the potential of our digital tools to amplify voices and ensure that free speech, once strengthened, becomes a truly perpetual force.

Hemen Parekh
