BATTLE for BABRI

Even as the BATTLE  for  BABRI , is being fought out in the Supreme Court and on TV Channels , I request Shri Asaduddin Owaisi  , Shri Subramanian Swamy , and leaders / opinion-makers from both the sides to consider my ( 2 year old ) following suggestion , to usher a lasting peace and harmony in the Indian Society :

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reach - Out Time   ?

Narendra Modi claims that the Muslims of Gujarat have buried the ghost of Godhra and a great majority of them voted for BJP in the recent State election

There have been many communal ( anti-minority or anti-majority ) riots in most of the States of India since independence

It does not serve any purpose to keep doing post-mortem , again and again

It is obvious that the new generation ( including the descendents of the victims ) want to close the chapter and move on to a better / peaceful life

If , development of Muslims brought about a harmonious communal relations in Gujarat , surely it could be replicated on a national scale , all over the country

Narendra Modi has a fantastic opportunity to drive across this message by incorporating the following ACTIONS in BJP’s 2014 Election Manifesto :

Ø  Resettling of riot victims ( belonging to any community and residing in any state ) , in Government-built houses , within one year of coming to power

Ø  Simultaneous dismantling of , so-called “ Minority Ghettos “ , thru dispersal of minorities throughout the cities , for better integration within a city’s majority population

Ø  Granting Cabinet Minister status to the Chiefs of Minority Commission / Women’s Commission / Human Rights Commission

Ø  Providing for greater representation in the Central Cabinet to the people of the North-Eastern States and the Naxal affected areas

Ø  Up gradation of the educational institutions belonging to the minorities

Ø  Greater representation to Minority Youth in “ Skills Development Program “ under NSDC

Ø  At the disputed Ayodhya site , creation of a “  WORLD  PEACE  COMPLEX  “ comprising of :

     *      Ram Temple    ( for Hindus )

     *      Mosque          ( for Muslims )

     *      Church          ( for Christians )

     *      Temple          ( for Buddhists )

     *      Synagogue     ( for Jews  )

     *     Akshar-Dham  ( for Jains )

*     Gurudwara     (  for  Shikhs  )

     *     UNIVERSITY  for  COMPARATIVE  STUDIES  of  WORLD  RELIGIONS

     *     Hospitals ( like Netralaya / Hridayalaya )

     *     India Heritage  /  History Museum

     *     Business Convention-cum-Industry Exhibition Centre

     *     Tourist Complex

     And right in the center of the complex , a giant statue of the “  FATHER  of the NATION  “

I invite readers to add to this list

Even if for all the wrong reasons [ viz; 2014 Elections ], let BJP not miss this opportunity to initiate steps for integration of the minorities into the mainstream of political / economical / social development of our country

It is about time to exhibit , BJP’s  truly “ SECULAR “ nature ( non-UPA  variety ? )

It is time to stop mere Congress-bashing ( with which , people are fed-up ) and promise some genuine positive actions to the MINORITIES

And of all the leaders of BJP , who is better placed for such “ Pro-Activism “ than Narendrabhai ?

Carpe Diem ( Seize the Day ! )

One Thing At a Time , Please !

That is what the Delhi High Court seems to be telling Delhi Government !

It is telling Delhi Government :

" Before extending the odd-even rule beyond 15th Jan , tell us how much did it improve the AQI level in Delhi during the past 10 days "

Poor Mr Gopal Rai !

Not being an expert on Air Pollution , he cannot say :

"  Your Honour !

   It would take many months of such experimentation to conclude how much AQI improves by removing 10 lakh vehicles from the roads

And it will take a few years to :

*  Build separate lanes for BRTS / Bicycles

*  Introduce 10,000 buses ( Public Transport )

*  Introduce many more Metro lines

*  Introduce FREE bicycles which can be picked up / used / left anywhere by public

*  Introduce CNG driven vehicles / CNG filling stations by hundreds

*  Introduce electric cars which re-charge from power generated by Solar (not fossil power )

*  Dismantle fossil fuel powered power plants ( contribution = 21 % )

*  Pave those unpaved roads ( contribution = 17.8 % )

*  Sprinkle water on already paved roads ( contribution = 11.8 % )

*  Stop open burning of Landfills  ( contribution = 10.8 % )

*  Stop Construction caused dust  ( contribution = 8.54 % )

*  Stop smoke from Bakery Chimneys ( contribution = 5.8 % )

*  Stop Stone Crusher dust ( contribution = 5.2 % )

*  Remove ALL vehicles from the roads ( contribution = 5.8 % )

*  Introduce staggered working hours in offices / factories

*  Cover entire Delhi city with 100 Mbps FREE Wi-Fi , so that working from homes become possible thru Skype / Face Time etc

*  Make all educational content available ( free ) over Google Loon / Amazon Drones , so that all schools and colleges can be shut down

*  Introduce online purchase of all goods / services so people do not need go shopping and
all deliveries are through drones

{ Although , Pollution Contribution % mentioned above , are for Mumbai , as estimated by CPCB / NEERI , and reported in Times of India / 08 Jan 2016 , situation is same in Delhi  }

Your Honour ,

Do you want us to take up only ONE remedial measure AT A TIME , to see how much contribution does it make towards improvement of AQI , while holding other factors " constant " , as at present  ?

How many DAYS will you allow us to isolate the improvement due to each factor  ?

Between two experiments, how many days shall we return to " Status Quo Ante " ?

We request Your Honour to make  Lt Governor of Delhi / National Green Tribunal / Environment Ministry / Transport Ministry etc , a party to this litigation and pass appropriate ORDERS in this matter ,which are binding on all ( and not merely " guiding " ) "

How is it different ?

About a year back, 8 lakh druggists and chemists went on a strike to demand action from the Centre against " illegal " online sale of medicines by E Pharmacies such as 1mg / PharmEasy / Netmeds etc

On Dec 30 2015 , Drug Controller General of India ( DGCI ) issued a circular asking online pharmacies to strictly adhere to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules

But no ban on Online Pharmacies

Online pharmacies argued :

*   We are only Search Engines which enable buyers to search for specific drugs / sellers of such drugs and place orders online

*  We neither " store / stock " any drugs nor " sell " these stored drugs

*  We pass on the buyer's order to selected Chemists , who actually fulfill the order and collect payment

*  We insist on a Doctor's Prescription in case of Scheduled Drugs

*  By providing a platform to lakhs of small chemist-shops , we are helping them to prosper

*  We are providing a buyer , many more options to choose from lakhs of small chemists

*  By increasing competition amongst Sellers, we are benefiting the buyers thru lower prices

*  We are even increasing competition among the Drug Manufacturers

*  We are helping break the unholy nexus between doctors / chemists / manufacturers

*  We are not much different in our " Scope " when compared to many other online platforms , where Buyer / Seller find each other and transact business, with minimum involvement of the online platform itself

Such platforms have existed for a long time , not only for products but even for " Services " of all kinds

But unless a fool-proof solution is found fast , things could get out of control  !

Now is the right time for finding a permanent solution to this evolving scenario  which will benefit all the parties concerned , viz:

*   General Public ( Users / Patients )

*   Doctors prescribing drugs

*   Manufacturers of drugs

*   Chemists / Druggists

*   All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists ( AIOCD )

*   Association of Drug Manufacturers

*   Indian Medical Institute / All India Medical Association

*   DGCI

*   Ministry of Health ....etc

I offer such a solution below :

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3 D - Digital Delivery of Drugs  ?

( let us call it , " Dispenser " )

My take :

*  One day , everything will be sold online from web sites 10,000 Km away !

*  There is no way march of EVERYTHING ONLINE can be stopped or slowed

My Suggestions :

*  Govt to upload a Mobile App ( DISPENSER ? ) on Health Ministry web site

*  All doctors must download it , after proper registration / authentication

*  App will get embedded with full details of that doctor who uses it

*  Doctors to enter Patient Data in App  / then enter prescribed Drug Details

*  Doctor will SMS app data entered , to concerned patient's mobile

*  Patient will SMS entered app data to mobile of Chemist of his choice

*  Chemist will deliver the medicine to the patient with Bill Details in App

*  Users ( Buyers of medicines ) will make payment to the concerned
   Chemist ,thru a Mobile Wallet embedded in DISPENSER app

*  Every action / transaction on App , will get automatically emailed to
       web Servers of ,

       #  Health Ministry

       #  All India Medical Association

       #   All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists ( AIOCD )

       #   Drug Controller General of India

Advantages :

*   Jobs / business of Chemists / Druggists saved

*   Great convenience for patients / no need to visit Drug Store

*   No chance of Chemist " misinterpreting " doctor's handwriting !

*   Full History of

     #  Each purchase

     #  Each Patient.... ( great benefit to Prescribing doctors )

     #  Each Drug......  ( great benefit to Pharma Companies  )

     #  Each Chemist Shop...  ( great benefit to Govt / AIOCD / Tax Dept )

     #  Each Doctor........  ( great interest to All India Medical Association )

*   Analyzing billions of such Mobile App based transactions , using BIG
     DATA analytic , will yield mind-boggling PREDICTIVE TRENDS , which
     will help spot potential outbreaks of epidemics , beforehand

For the benefit of millions , let us harness the Online Delivery technology

That is the only way  DIGITAL INDIA  can benefit the entire society

Solutions to all the problems of the World are known

Only Unknown are those dedicated persons determined to implement  !

Lessons from History ?

Courtesan of King Canute tried to flatter him by saying :

" Sire !  Tide will stop rolling in , if only you order it to do so "

King Canute was a wise man and knew that laws of Nature cannot be countered , even by a King

To drive home this point , he sat on a chair on the sea-shore and ordered the tide to stop

Sure enough , tide chose to ignore his wishes and wet his feet  ! Courtesan hid their faces  !

Some people in India are refusing to learn their lesson from what is happening all around the World as far as E - Commerce is concerned

They are asking the King ( fill in the name ! ) , to stop E Commerce in:

*    Multi-Brand Retail

*    Local Kirana shops

*    Medicines ( E Pharmacies )

*    Transport  (  Uber / Ola / Car Pooling / Aggregation )

*    Buyer / Seller online platforms for a multitude of services

*    Anything where current vested interests feel threatened

Not realizing that the following powerful forces ( working for E Commerce ) , are unstoppable :

*   13 million Retailers of the country ( includes Kirana shops ) want to sell " More and Farther "

     They want to be able to sell beyond 1 Km of their physical location ( their current limitation )

    Only way they can compete with their " Neighboring  Store ", is to sell " On line "

    Since most cannot afford to set up their own web sites , they will join Amazon / Snapdeal / Flipkart etc

*   Already some 100  companies have launched Mobile Wallets . Before long , every bank / ISP / MSP / NBFC / Trade Association / Hotel Chain / FMCG manufacturers etc , will launch its own Wallets

*   Soon traffic in cities will become so bad that it will render " Outdoor Shopping " impossible . People will prefer to shop everything on-line

*   Internet broadband will reach every nook and corner of India , making E Com web sites accessible to millions of rural people

*  By 2020 , every Indian will have a Smart Phone connected to internet 24*7

*  And by 2020 , at least some refrigerators will start replenishing on their own, by
   placing orders on most competitive online E Com web sites !

Internet of Things ( IoT )

*  Around the same time , Google / Amazon / eBay etc will start their own " Drone
    based " deliveries in 2 hours  !

*  Not to be outdone , many online E Com platforms ( web sites ) will come forward
    and install in your kitchen , a 3D printer , through which , they will deliver any
    product that your refrigerator wants replenished  !

*   Holograms will enable you to try out in the comfort of your homes , any item of
     personal wear !  So , why trudge to a physical store ?

Hiding your head in the sand is no way to avoid the incoming storm  !

Writing is on the Wall  !  Those who refuse to swim with the current are bound to sink  !

Second Class Citizens ?

If you live in any city other than Delhi , you are a second class citizen  !

At least , the Supreme Court of India seems to think so  !

What else can explain its deep concern for the health of Delhi-ites , while choosing to overlook the fact that Diesel Vehicle Pollution is equally damaging the lungs of the lesser beings, living in dozens of other cities ?

Or does SC think that pollution related situation in these other cities has yet not reached a level of alarm ?

Or that time is not yet " ripe " for it to concern itself with future of the children of people living in these other cities  ?

Is it possible that SC is waiting for some citizens of these lesser cities to file a PIL  ?

May be SC thinks its "Judicial Activism" does not legitimately extend beyond the NCR ?

I fondly believe ( even now ) that for the Common Man of this country , SC is the only real " Maa - Baap " which steps in whenever the Government Officers / MLAs / MPs , fail to take timely decisions to protect the health of its Citizens , everywhere

I still very much believe that SC has , time and again , proved that it is the Court of Last Resort

I hope SC has read in papers ,the figures of AQI ( Air Quality Index ) in other cities

In any case , I hope that , on its own , SC will take SUO MOTO cognizance of this blog and treat it as a PIL to enlarge its recent orders to cover the rest of India !

A WORD OF  CAUTION :

If Hon Judges of the Supreme Court were to read the rest of my blogs at ,

www.hemenparekh.in ,

they may take SUO MOTO cognizance of many and keep aside PILs from Prashant Bhushan / Subramanian Swami  !

Fear of Being Ridiculed ?

Many a great ideas have remained unexpressed due to fear of being ridiculed

But there have been notable exceptions

Idea whose time may not have come but that did not prevent its proponent to speak up - even at the risk of being ridiculed

IDEA :

Abolish Personal Income tax in order to solve the twin problems of black money and corruption , for ever

BRAVE  HEARTS  :

Nani Palkhiwala

Ram Jethamalani

Subramanyam Swamy

When scions of business / industry meet Shri Arun Jaitleyji today , to give their suggestions in respect of Corporate Income Tax provisions in the forthcoming Union Budget , will any of them have the courage to advocate :

*    Abolition of Personal Income Tax ( Revenue loss of Rs 2.5 lakh*Crores )

*    Reducing Corporate Tax rates with rise in no of employees ( Incentivize Job-Creation )

*    10 % of GST collection to get credited in PPF accounts of the Buyer of Goods / Services

*    GST rate increase (in coming years) to be no more than 5 % of CPI rise in previous year

*    No questions ( as to the Source ) for cash deposited in Jan Dhan Bank Accounts (  Permanent  Unlimited Amnesty  )

*    FD Interest / Dividends from Infra Bonds / SPVs to be credited to Jan Dhan A/cs

*    Introduction of 2 % Bank Transaction Tax ( Revenue gain of Rs 15 Lakh*Crores )

*    Announcement of " Start Up Act / 2015 " ( read  hemenparekh.in / Blogs  )

*    Introduction of Rs 500/1000 currency notes with embedded RFID / unique IP Address

I hope those Business Leaders / Industrialists will take courage from the fact that , initially , all ideas get ridiculed which are aimed at ,

*   Upsetting the existing Social Order

*   Threatening the vested interests

*   Destroying the cozy comfort

*   Democratizing the Economic Powers

Then a time comes when those very ideas are appreciated and , later, even admired  !

Please , do not miss your  " Tryst with the Destiny "  !
