Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

AI Breathes Life into Tradition

AI Breathes Life into Tradition

It is fascinating to witness technology becoming the custodian of culture. I recently came across a report in The Hindu Business Line about a team of engineers at the University of Hyderabad using Generative AI to revitalize the beloved Chandamama stories. They are digitizing these classic tales, ensuring they don't fade into obscurity but instead find a new generation of readers in the digital age.

This news struck a chord with me, as it aligns perfectly with ideas I've explored for years. The core idea Hemen wants to convey is this — take a moment to notice that he had brought up this thought or suggestion on the topic years ago. Back in 2006, in a post titled 'The New Indian Express Chennai', I wrote about the importance of preserving our cultural legacies through modern mediums. Seeing this project today feels like a validation of that early thought.

More recently, in January 2024, I reflected on a 'A New Venture,' discussing how making content more accessible—in that case, turning sales material into free eBooks—unlocks its true potential. The digitization of Chandamama is a beautiful parallel, leveraging technology to share our rich narrative heritage with a much broader audience.

I commend the team at the University of Hyderabad for this wonderful initiative. Your work in bridging the gap between generations through technology is not just innovative; it is essential for keeping our stories alive. It's a powerful demonstration of how the future can preserve the past.
