A PM with “ Inside Information “ ?

No !  No !

But there is no denying that Shri Modiji is a “ PM with Insight Information “ !

At recently concluded 107th Indian Science Congress, Shri Narendra Modi challenged the scientists to develop new battery types , saying :

“  We need to pay attention to grid management as we expand our renewable energy
     supply.

These require developing new battery types which are ,

Ø  based on environmentally benign materials,

          Ø  not monopolistic,

          Ø  affordable on 100s of Giga-Watt scale,

          Ø  suitable for tropical climates
----------------------------------------------------------------
Now read this appearing in today’s Economic Times :

Extract :

Founded in 2008, Phinergy develops an assortment of zero-emission batteries including aluminum-air and zinc-air batteries designed to offer power sources for electric cars.

IOC and Phinergy will form a joint venture in India to collaborate in developing aluminium-air battery system including research & development, customisation, manufacturing, assembly, sell and service of aluminium-air energy systems technology.

"The joint venture intends to set up a factory in India to manufacture aluminium-air batteries for electric vehicles and stationary applications and facilitate development of eco-system for Al-Air technology," the statement said.

Phinergy specialises in aluminium-air (Al-Air) and zinc-air battery systems that have great potential applications in electric mobility and stationary applications.

Aluminium is naturally available in India and its extraction and recycling technologies are also very well established.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Better Late Than Never !

Indian Oil had signed an MOU with Phinergy, almost 2 years ago !

Why Aluminum-Air Batteries ?

From web site of Phinergy :
Phinergy’s air-electrode technology has enabled it to master the metal-air reaction process and develop an aluminium-air system with a lifespan of thousands of working hours, relieving the main constraints of electric transportation and clean distributed generation.

What are the implications of Alu-Air Batteries ?

Ø  There will be nocharging “ of this battery using Electric Charging Stations

Ø  Charging is through its built-in “ Air Electrode “ being injected with oxygen , extracted from air , even as the car is running – eliminating need for millions of Charging Stations that India would require to completely switch-over to Electric Vehicles ( using Li-ion batteries ) by 2030 . Hence no “ Range Anxiety “ ?
This would remove the biggest hurdle to early adoption of Electric Cars by
the buyers and make it possible for quick transition from IC engines !

Ø  Its Cathode will need replacement after 25,000 hours

Ø  If battery is used ( on average ) for 2.5 hours per day, then that means , it would need to be replaced after 10,000 days ( 30 years ? )

Ø  Battery needs to have 1 of kg Aluminium to generate 8 kwh . So , to generate 50 kwh ( rumoured capacity of TESLA Model 3 electric car ), it would need about 6 kg of Aluminium and make it extremely cost-effective !

Ø  It can be “ re-charged “ ( with oxygen ) in 5 minutes ( while car is running ? )

Ø  After each recharge , it can run for 1,000 km

Ø  As compared to Lithium-ion battery costing 30 % of the cost of an Electric car , this Aluminium-Air battery would cost , hardly 5 % .

Ø  Using Aluminium-Air battery , what would be the on-road price of a standard 4 seat electric car (such as M&M e20 ) ? Can it possibly drop from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 8 lakh ?

Has anyone else tied up with Phinergy ?

Yes. About 2 years ago, Ashok Leyland too , tied up with Phinergy . Read :

National Recruitment Agency ( NRA )

Since she presented her budget on 01 Feb , Shrimati Sitharamanji has been a subject of praise and criticism for her many proposals

You heard about these in newspapers / TV debates

Unfortunately,“ no budget can please everyone “ .

Just look up newspapers of past 70 years

More unfortunately, none of the critiques offered alternate proposals !

Fortunately, there was one announcement which echoed my past suggestions ( sent as emails ) – and will ensure that non-gazette posts in the government gets filled on the basis of MERITS

Here is how Times of India ( 02 Feb ) reports that announcement :

Extract :

 FASTER ,  EASIER,  CHEAPER

Ø  A Test Centre in every district ( 640 districts )
Ø  Separate CETs ( Common Eligibility Test  ) for every Educational Level
Ø  Rollout in second half of 2020
Ø  Test Scores will be valid for 3 years
Ø  Best score of 3 tries will be taken
Ø  CET rank will be given to States on cost-sharing basis
Ø  Private firms can also pick candidates from CET merit list
Ø  As on 01 March 2019, employee strength of government establishments was 32,62,908
Ø  Between March 2019 and March 2021, government planned to add 2.62 Lakh employees
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Shri Jitendra Sighji

( Minister of State – Personnel / drjitendras@gmail.com ),

Congratulations for this reform which has far reaching consequences for improving governance

FIRST STEP :

Common Eligibility Test ( CET ) Score is only the first step in the ELIMINATION PROCESS , considering that , currently , some 80 – 100 persons apply against a SINGLE vacancy ! There is no way you can interview 100 persons for each vacancy . You need to zero-in on , may be 10

SECOND STEP :

To shortlist – and offer APPOINTMENT LETTER to ONE candidate , out of ( may be ) 10 who , currently get “ Interviewed “, face to face , across the table
This is , not only a very time-consuming process but has elements of personal biases / prejudices
I urge you to “ automate “ this second step as follows :
Ø  Eliminate face to face interviews
Ø  Conduct these interviews ONLINE , employing technology described hereunder
Ø  Eliminate bias / prejudice , through online VIDEO interviews
Ø  Conduct as many online interviews as desired simultaneously ( even 10,000 at a time  )
Ø  Create a panel of ( subject-wise )” interview experts” ( may be 1 LAKH ? ), who will conduct these online interviews from the living rooms of their homes ( no need for infrastructure )
Ø  Candidate will not know who is the interviewer/Interviewer will not know who is the candidate
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extracts from my past E Mails ( suggesting ONLINE TESTING / INTERVIEWING of candidates ) to Cabinet Ministers / Chief Ministers / Niti Aayog etc :

National Career Service Portal                                       [ 21 July 2015 ]

Extract :

#   Job-Alerts Resume-Alerts  on  mobile
#   Online Job  Fairs ( including Online Interviewing )
#   Common shared database of ALL job-portals of India

#   Mobile  App - " Job-post " ( to enable 65 million MSME to post their vacancies )
{ Currently, no MSME advertises on any job portal – whose subscriptions are very high
      and , unaffordable by these MSME, who may need to fill just one vacancy per year }

Job Melas are NOT an answer !                                       [ 13 Feb 2017 ]

Extract :

CAN  TECHNOLOGY  HELP  ?

#  Sure ! The answer lies in " Online Jobs Fair " - a job portal with a difference !

#  An " Online Jobs Fair " , does NOT suffer from the following limitations of an " Offline (
    ground-based ) job fair :

   *  No physical space limitations . Unlimited number of VIRTUAL INTERVIEW CABINS can
       be created on the fly

   *  Unlimited numbers of jobseekers and recruiters can come ONLINE , at any given
Instance ( millions, if you will )

   *  Since this platform also enables FOREIGN COMPANIES to interview INDIAN
CANDIDATES , such interviews can take place round-the-clock !
This platform will vastly improve overseas recruitment of Indian jobseekers

   *  Thousands of INTERVIEWS can be going on SIMULTANEOUSLYin total privacy ( from
       anywhere in World )

   *  4 interviewers ( belonging to same company ), located in 4 different cities , can
interview the same candidate jointly by logging in at the same time in the
same INTERVIEW CABIN ( password protected entry )

   *  Neither the candidates nor the interviewers need to travel , saving millions of wasted
       man-hours

   *  Interviews can be pre-scheduled and candidates will be emailed in advance , when to
       log into which cabin.

The SCHEDULER SOFTWARE will do this automatically

   *  Candidate Assessment Forms will get filled in ONLINE and made available to concerned
       candidate by email

   *  Offer letters ( or Offer Intention Letters ) or Rejection Letters will get emailed as soon
as CANDIDATE ASSESSMENT form gets mandatorily filled in online  !

  *  Company Display Boards will be visible to ALL visiting jobseekers to decide which jobs
      to apply for

  *  Resume Rating software will automatically " rate and rank " resumes of all candidates
applying against a particular vacancy and arrange applicant-resumes in descending
order of " Raw Score " and send out Interview Schedule to shortlisted candidates ,
      without human intervention

  *  All online interviews will take place using Audio-Video chat thru Skype / FaceTime (
      from Smart phones )

  *  All interview " Conversations " ( questions and answers ) will get recorded and made
available to candidate being interviewed for his study and improving his " Interviewing
     Skills "

There are many other advantages , not listed above  but which you can read at :

Should Ministry of Labour desire , I would be happy to design / develop and hand-over such an online platform without any charge / fees , provided ,

#   Labour Ministry hosts and maintains it

#   Makes it available for use ( by Recruiters and Jobseekers ) , FREE  OF  COST

Neither the governments ( Central + States ) , nor the Organized Sector , is in a position to " CREATE " 12 million jobs per year .

By creating OnLineJobsFair ( a kind of Virtual Employment Exchange ) , we can help our youth to enter Job Market of entire World

Last ( but not the least ) :

OnLineJobsFair will enable millions of young Indians to offer their " Remote Services " to Foreign Companies !
Services such as " Coding " / " Caring " / " Consulting " / " Curating " / " Controlling " etc

It may even become a " Business Meeting " platform !

Exam Malpractices ?  No More !                                             [ 19 Oct 2019 ]

Extract :

TCS iON , a unit of Tata Consultancy Services, plans to deploy this technology for eliminating cheating  !

HERE  IS  HOW :

Ø  Launching its Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) driven Command Centre in Chennai, which will monitor in real time, 6000 of its examination venues, across the country

OBJECTIVE :

Ø  Fair conduct of exams with transparency of the exam operations

METHODOLOGY :

Ø  Monitor the exam process through a set of 150 parameters

Ø  Prevent, predict and post incidents as alerts for efficient management of the exam

Ø  Track movement and devices carried by every candidate at any exam centre, via a live CCTV feed

Ø  Predict the readiness of the Centre based on past incidents and the current live feed of events in the exam centre

Ø  Issue alerts about any malpractice attempts based on the learning from the malpractice patterns of the past

Ø  Track the readiness of all the devices being used for conducting the exam, by leveraging TCS’s IoT  framework

Ø  Issue proactive automated directions for any observations that warrant immediate action through instant alerts against anomalies like exam interruptions. Unusual behavior on server or candidate system and the performance of the devices being used for the exam process

Ø   Students appearing at TCS examination centers, do so on a computer screen

Ø  No two students have the same questions in their exam papers and for each student, the exam paper is instantaneously / randomly generated on the fly, from a vast data bank of questions of similar “ Degree of Difficulty “

Ø  There is a time limit for solving the online paper

Ø  As soon as the time gets over, the SCORE [ result ] is flashed on the screen, along with a rejection letter or an ( provisional ) “ Appointment Letter “ – which, the selected student must “ accept “ online and immediately

-----------------------------------------------------

In India, hardly a week passes without millions of students appearing in exams being conducted by schools / colleges / Institutes / Prof Bodies / Exam Boards etc

Then there is Railway Board conducting paper-based written exams in thousands of exam centers, all over India, for millions of job-aspirants

Ditto with Indian Association of Bankers

And each of these is susceptible for cheating / paper-leaking / heart-burning and injustice to bright students

Lakhs of crores of rupees and billions of man-hours and millions of tons of papers are wasted

All of this wastage of National Resources can be saved, if only Shri Prakash Javadekarji, requests TCS :

Ø    To share its technology platform to the entire Education Industry , for FREE

Ø    To modify the National Career Service Portal [ www.nsc.gov.in ] to become Online Jobs Fair

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

POST SCRIPT :

Instead of using only 640 CET centres ( at each district ) , I strongly suggest that Government considers using 255,798 CSC ( Common Service Centres ) , already set up
