Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

#E-Vehicle #ISRO #FAME #Pollution

Thank  You  ,  Chief  !

ISRO Chairman is Dr K Sivan

Recently he said :

“ Isro to transfer tech on low-cost e-vehicle cells to industry: Chief “

  {  The Times of India (Mumbai edition) / 12 Mar 2018  }

This move comes as a relief for the industry as Li-ion batteries are not made in India at present

Giving thrust to the Centre’s key e-vehicle project with the objective of reducing air pollution and crude oil import, Isro is in the process of transferring the technology of the cheaper version of space batteries, developed by it, to the automobile industry for their commercial use in e-vehicles.

Talking to TOI, Isro chairman Dr K Sivan said: “We have identified (developed) the technology to reduce the cost of space batteries to be used for e-vehicle production.

Now, we are in the process of transferring the technology on low-cost batteries to the (automobile) industry for its commercial use with the help of NITI Aayog ”.

“Isro has developed four types of cells for space applications — 1.5Ah, 5Ah, 50Ah and 100Ah. Out of the four cells, Isro had earlier allowed Automotive Research Association of India (an industrial automobile research association) to use 50Ah and 100Ah cells for developing prototypes of an e-scooter and an e-car, respectively.

ARAI WAS SATISFIED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE PROTOTYPES.

Therefore, Isro is now working to transfer the technology to the industry,” he said.

ARAI last year demonstrated the use of 50Ah cells in two-wheelers that could run up to 98 km with a two-hour charge with speeds of up to 40-50 kmph.

Isro’s move comes as a huge relief for the industry as Li-ion batteries are currently not manufactured commercially in the country but are imported from Japan or China.

This was something that I have been pleading for with our Policy Makers , by sending following emails :

SolarPanels charging Li-ion Batteries of Electric Cars ?   [  04  May  2017  ]

Not ToughAt All !  [  08  May  2017   ]

One of these days – and very soon too – I hope ISRO will also accede to my other request , viz:

Transferring to Auto Industry , its technology for the  Solar Roof  Top  “ for electric vehicles ( which it demonstrated in May 2017 ) , which will continuously keep charging that Lithium-ion Battery , as long as that vehicle is exposed to sun . If it needs recharging , it will use a domestic outlet at night “

Implications of the combination of “ Solar Car Roof Top “ and a “ Powerful Small Li-ion Battery “ ‘ are mind boggling !

·         No need for road-side charging stations !

·         No need for all-India Battery Charging Infra ( estimated at Rs 195 lakh*crore ) !

·         Selling price dropping to 75 % of an equivalent petrol based family car

·         Buyers rushing to replace , not only 15 year old petrol cars but even 2 year old cars !

·         No need for giving any subsidy , either to auto-manufacturers or to buyers

·         A huge world-wide demand for an export potential of $ 100 billion !

·         Pollution free clean environment

Of course , this is provided Ashok Leyland do take longer to come up with its e-vehicles using Metal-Air Battery technology from Israeli firm Phinergy  !

Dear Shri Gadkariji ,

ISRO has repeatedly demonstrated to the developed countries that India can lead in space

I urge you, once more , to use your persuasive charm to help us overtake the world in e-cars

This is the  ONLY POLICY  that our auto manufacturers need !
