Yesterday , there was following news report :
Subsequently, the Ministry of
Electronics & IT on March 28, 2018, sent a letter to Facebook seeking their
response to the five questions, including,
·
whether personal data of Indian voters and users has been
compromised by Cambridge Analytica or any other downstream entity in any
manner,
·
and if so, how was it compromised?”
The government has also asked
the US-headquartered firm
·
if any downstream entity misused data
from Facebook,
·
what is the protection available to the data subject,
·
what are the specific steps proposed to be taken by Facebook to
prevent any misuse of personal data for potential interference in, or manipulation
of the Indian electoral process ?
I imagine
Facebook reply to run like this :

at Geneva , and that the Government of the country of the User , shall have no
