Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

The Great Indian Tech Homecoming

The Great Indian Tech Homecoming

I've been reading with great interest about the "wapsi," or homecoming, of Indian tech talent. For decades, the narrative was about brain drain—our brightest minds leaving for Silicon Valley and other global tech hubs. Now, it seems the tide is turning, and it's a profoundly significant moment for our country.

It's heartening to see this trend being recognized by industry leaders. I came across an article highlighting this phenomenon, featuring insights from people like Krishna BVV of Zinnov, Venkata Kishore Namburi of Qualys India, and Piyush Singh of McKinsey. They rightly point out that this isn't just about numbers; it's about the influx of deep experience in product development, AI, and SaaS. These returning professionals are not just coders; they are seasoned leaders, innovators, and architects of the future. Their return is poised to supercharge India's journey in deep-tech.

This development resonates deeply with what I have been thinking about and experimenting with for years. The core idea I want to convey is this — I've been exploring the creation of my digital twin and the potential of AI for a long time. In my communications about building my digital avatar, I've discussed the technical intricacies of using APIs and structuring knowledge, as seen in my exchanges about Keywords for sample content. I even pondered how an AI could learn my unique style of thinking and writing, a topic I explored in a blog titled "Next Step in Evolution of my Virtual Avatar".

At the time, these might have seemed like personal, almost philosophical, pursuits. But the challenge was always about having the right ecosystem and, more importantly, the right talent to bring these ambitious ideas to a larger scale. The return of this high-caliber talent is the missing piece of the puzzle. They bring with them the global experience and cutting-edge skills needed to build the very systems I've envisioned.

Seeing this trend unfold feels like a validation of a long-held belief. India is no longer just a back office for the world; it is becoming a product and innovation hub in its own right. This reverse brain drain is the fuel that will power this transformation. The conversations I was having about semantic search and AI's future back in 2018 (Quantum Jump ?) are now becoming mainstream strategic discussions in Indian boardrooms, led by the very people who are now coming home.

The potential is immense. We are on the cusp of a new era where "Made in India" will not just be about manufacturing but about deep technological innovation. This homecoming is more than just a demographic shift; it's an intellectual and creative renaissance.
