EESL :
a wake up
time ?
Following report appeared yesterday :
WHY ?
Electric cars of Tata Motors and Mahindra—the Tata Tigor
electric and Mahindra e-Verito, respectively—procured by EESL for government
officials failed to run even 80-82km
on a single charge
within city limits ( tender specifications )
CONTEXT :
* Against first tender of EESL for 10,000 electric cars , only 150 have been delivered
so
far .
No clue re delivery of the rest which
were due for delivery by Oct 2017 !
* Even in Delhi , there are hardly any Battery
Charging Stations
* Second tender ( for 10,000 cars ) is held up for past 3 months since a
few Ministries
are
still fighting with each other re specifications for future Battery Charging
Stations
* Within 4 years , EESL wants to replace the
entire fleet of government departments (
approx. 5 lakh petrol / diesel cars ) , with electric cars (
ie ; 10,000 e cars to be
delivered every month for the next 50 months ! At a cost of Rs 50,000 CRORE
! )
* EESL is charging ( to those govt departments
) , a lease rent of approx. Rs 19.2 / km
* But the way the govt departments are protesting
( against the poor performance of
already delivered cars ), I seriously doubt
whether EESL can manage to perform
against commitment it has made to those
departments !
If a mere 150 cars can turn out to be a “
headache “ , imagine what managing of 5
lakh cars can do to EESL !
It will surely turn into a “ nightmare “
! Even an obituary for EESL ! A scam in
making ?
* It is still not too late for EESL to read all of my previous emails ( listed below ) and
re-write the balance contract / order into a “
Lease Agreement “ with TATA / M&M
Not only will EESL save unproductive
investment of thousands of crores of rupees , it
will
get a far better / superior “ SERVICE “ from TATA / M&M , since they will
get paid
only
when their cars run and only for the km they run !
Not only their “ Lease Rent “ could be as
low as Rs 6 / km , they would ensure :
#
Plenty of their own battery charging stations , in each and every city
#
Very reliable drivers-cum-technicians ( English - speaking graduates )
# One
“ standby / spare “ car for every 5 cars leased to EESL
