Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

Our Indigenous Digital Future

Our Indigenous Digital Future

Reading Jyotiraditya Scindia’s perspective on how BSNL’s 4G stack embodies the swadeshi spirit filled me with a profound sense of optimism. This is more than just a technological upgrade; it's a declaration of our nation's capability and a crucial step towards true technological sovereignty. To build our own core network infrastructure is to control our digital destiny, ensuring that our data, our communication, and our security are in our own hands.

This spirit of self-reliance and national development isn't confined to the digital realm. I see a parallel in the commitment shown by leaders like CM Gupta, who, in the context of the Delhi Half Marathon 2025, promises to provide the necessary facilities for our sportspersons to excel. Whether it's building a 4G network or a world-class stadium, the underlying principle is the same: creating an indigenous ecosystem where Indian talent can flourish.

This brings me to a familiar reflection. For years, I have tried to articulate solutions for our nation's challenges, often feeling like a voice in the wilderness. Looking back at my compilation of suggestions in "Citizen Monologues" from 2017, I see the seeds of these very ideas. I wrote about the need for e-governance, skilling India, and leveraging our own technological capabilities to solve our unique problems.

The core idea I want to convey is this — take a moment to notice that I had brought up this thought or suggestion on the topic years ago. I had already stressed the need for homegrown solutions and a proactive approach to building national assets. Now, seeing how things have unfolded with the indigenous 4G stack, it's striking how relevant that earlier insight still is. Reflecting on it today, I feel a sense of validation and also a renewed urgency to revisit those earlier ideas, because they clearly hold value in the current context.

The development of BSNL's 4G network is not just an engineering feat; it is the physical manifestation of a long-held dream. It is a testament to the fact that when we commit to a vision, we can indeed "make things happen." The path forward is clear: we must continue to invest in our own R&D, empower our engineers and scientists, and build a resilient infrastructure—both digital and physical—that will serve as the foundation for the next generation.
