Standardization is not that simple !

Just read from news papers that Shri Ram Vilas Paswanji wants to standardize on the portions of different dishes being served in hotels / restaurants

Where Angels fear to tread ?

A food item served in a hotel has many attributes among which , Weight or Volume ( Quantity ) is just one

Consider these other :

·         Quality of the various ingredients used in preparing that dish

·
·         Whether vegetable ingredients are “ Organically “ produced or with chemical fertilizers

·
·         Calorific Value ( Energy value ) of the final preparation

·
·         Can it be classified as “ Junk Food “ ? or “ Health Food “ ?

·
·         Vitamin content

·
·         Use of non-permissible colours

·
·         Presence of some toxic materials

·
·         Presence of oils that might cause increased Cholesterol level

·
·         Hygienic condition of the kitchen where prepared

·
·         Cleanliness of the cooks

·
·         Whether the ingredients are FRESH or STALE

·
·         Whether portion was prepared 10 minutes earlier or 3 days earlier !

·
·         Whether price for a dosa is Rs 30 or Rs 60 !

·
Of course , no one can / will object to the idea of “ not wasting of food “

But I am not sure this can be achieved by “ Standardizing “ on the QUANTITY of food served in hotels / restaurants !

Read Email :

Report :
The prime minister launched the BHIM-Aadhaar Pay app, a biometric-based payment system which will make payment through thumb impression a reality.

He also launched incentive schemes for the BHIM -- cashback and referral bonus

Seeking to rope in youngsters to promote cashless transactions, Modi said for every person introduced to the BHIM app, one will get a cashback of Rs 10.

“If you refer 20 persons a day, you can earn Rs 200,” he said.

Under the referral bonus scheme, both the existing users who refer BHIM and new users who adopt it would get a cash bonus which will be credited directly to their bank account.

Under the cashback scheme, the merchants will get a cashback on every transaction on BHIM.

BHIM-Aadhaar, the merchant interface of the BHIM app, paves the way for digital payments through the Aadhaar platform.

This will enable the citizens to pay digitally using the biometric data like thumb imprint on a merchant’s biometric- enabled device, which could be a smartphone with a biometric data reader.

Anyone without access to smartphones, internet, debit or credit cards will be able to transact digitally through the BHIM-Aadhaar platform.

“This will make digital payments easy even for those who cannot read or write, thus realising Ambedkar’s vision of social and financial empowerment for all,” Modi said.

“We are reaching a time when mobile phones will be where financial transactions will take place.”

“ The BHIM-Aadhaar Pay app is such a modern and apt facility which even the technologically advanced countries do not have “

“It will pave the way for digital payments through the Aadhaar platform. This will enable every Indian citizen to pay digitally using their biometric data like thumb imprint on a merchant’s biometric-enabled device which could be a smartphone with a biometric data reader.”

“ There was an era when the thumb was a sign of being illiterate. Now, the thumb (used for Aadhaar-based transactions) has become your strength,” said Modi.

I am glad that , not only Ministers of NDA government read my emails but considered my suggestions worth implementing .

What Skills Are in Demand ?

Hindustan Times ( 14 April 2017 ) carries following news report :

Democracy works on Bhagidari “ :  Modi

Speaking at the 50th anniversary of the Ladies Wing of Indian Merchant Chamber , Shri Narendra Modi said :

“ The government is not an ‘ elected contractor’ but think what you can contribute for the country “

Shri Modi asked if Corporate India can develop an “ Online Platform “ that helps the youth to know which skill is in demand in which country “

Dear Shri Narendrabhai ,

It pains to realize that you had to “ request “ Corporate India to do something which is :

·         Its moral obligation ( besides capable of serving its own “ Self Interest “ ! )

·         Not a rocket science

·         Possible to be developed / launched within 2 months by ( even ) a Start Up !

I urge Corporate India ( - represented by ASSOCHAM / FICCI / CII ), decides to implement my following suggestion to Shri T C Anant , Chief Statistician , Govt of India , on 26 Oct 2015 :

I am willing to help with the database of over 2 million job advertisements ( posted online by some 50,000 Indian Companies over the past 7 years )

EVM : as susceptible as MoM ?

For the past few weeks ( ever since badly losing out on UP elections ) , both Mayawati and Arvind Kejriwal are , repeatedly making allegations that the EVMs used for voting were “ hacked / tempered / manipulated “ in such a way that no matter which button got pressed , that vote went to the BJP candidate

Chief Election Commissioner , Shri Zaidi has dismissed this allegation as baseless

Neither BSP nor AAP has been able to provide any “ technically convincing “ proof to support their allegation

And , neither of them are answering this question :

·         If any particular EVM was found to be “ tempered “ during pre-poll inspection / testing by your candidate in the presence of concerned Election Officers , then why did he sign / certify it as OK ?

I suppose not to expose the “ ignorance “ of the BSP / AAP and embarrass them, the Election Commission is not telling them :

“ The EVMs are manufactured by Government Companies such as ECIL / BEL , who also built and supplied the Electronic Controls for our MoM ( Mars Orbital Mission ) – a mission which has the distinction of achieving SUCCESS at the very first attempt , a feat not achieved even by USA / RUSSIA / CHINA

Millions of miles away from the Earth , these Electronic Controls and the embedded software , has performed flawlessly in the harshest conditions of space

Using the electronics supplied by these very same companies ( and by the private sector supplier CENTUM ELECTRONICS ) , ISRO are planning even far more complex missions of sending Indian Astronauts to distant planets !

Would you want to tell ISRO not to rely upon ECIL / BEL ?

Or tell our Military not to rely on companies like L&T / Walchandnagar Industries / Reliance Defence /  Mahindra & Mahindra , for purchase of defence equipment , which will decide whether our Jawan using those equipment will succeed in killing the enemy or get killed himself ?

Behenji / Arvindji :

Managements of ECIL / BEL / CENTUM ( and of all the suppliers of electronics ) , would be too happy to take you around their RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT laboratories and answer all of your doubts

Or would you rather pass a “ Vote of No Confidence “ ( so much easier outside of Lok Sabha ! ), in Indian Manufacturers and want Election Commission to import these EVMs from Japan ?

Or get help from a certain “ political friend “ to export these EVMs to China where , in any case , every vote has got to be registered for the Communist Party ?
