Logistics cost will reduce to 9% of GDP in 2 years: Gadkari

Extract from the article:

In a significant revelation, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has disclosed plans to reduce India's logistics costs to a single-digit figure within the next two years.

Gadkari emphasized the aim to bring down logistics expenses to 9 per cent. The article also highlighted the remarkable growth of India's automobile industry from Rs 7.5 crore in 2014 to an impressive Rs 18 lakh crore by 2024.

My Take:

India to become Vehicle Scrapping Hub ?

Reflecting on my previous blog where I discussed India's potential to become a global automobile manufacturing hub, the recent announcement by Gadkari further solidifies the country's path towards this goal.

The focus on scrappage policies to modernize the automotive industry aligns with my earlier suggestion. The growth projections outlined in my blog seem to be aligning with the current developments, showcasing a promising future for India's automotive sector.

Taxing Polluters

Back in 2021, there was a discussion on implementing measures to encourage greener practices in the automobile industry.

Now, with the push towards scrappage policies as highlighted by Gadkari, the emphasis on reducing pollution and promoting sustainable vehicles is gaining momentum. The exponential growth expected in the automobile sector echoes the trends predicted in my earlier blog.

It's encouraging to see efforts being made to transform the industry in line with environmental concerns.

Call to Action:

To Union Minister Nitin Gadkari,

Your vision for transforming India's logistics landscape is commendable.

As you steer the country towards reducing logistics costs significantly, it is crucial to ensure that these changes benefit all stakeholders, including small businesses and consumers.

Continued transparency in policy implementation and engagement with industry experts will be key in achieving the desired outcomes. Keep up the momentum towards a more efficient and cost-effective logistics ecosystem.

B'deshis entering Assam

Article link: Bangladeshis entering Assam after March 24, 1971 are illegal immigrants, says SC

Extract from the article:

The Supreme Court has ruled that Bangladeshi migrants entering Assam after March 24, 1971, are illegal immigrants.

This decision validates Section 6A of the Citizenship Act, declaring individuals who entered Assam on or after March 25, 1971, as illegal migrants.

The five-judge bench has urged both Union and state governments to expedite the identification and detection processes of these migrants.

My Take:

Citizenship Law: Opposition vs Alternative

In my blog post, I discussed the opposition and alternatives to the Citizenship Law, focusing on the implications of granting citizenship based on religious persecution.

The recent Supreme Court ruling aligns with the concerns raised about defining the legal status of migrants based on specific criteria.

The decision in Assam echoes the debates surrounding the Citizenship Law's implementation and its impact on various communities seeking refuge in India.

Kejariwalji, Pl. Do Not Cross Lakshman

My blog highlighted the importance of preventing misinformation and incitement of communal violence through political statements.

The recent remarks regarding migrant communities and their behavior prior to 2014 resonate with the need for responsible discourse.

The call for an ethical code of conduct for politicians, as proposed in the blog, gains significance in light of the sensitive nature of immigration and citizenship debates.

Call to Action:

To the Union and state governments, I urge expedited and fair processes for identifying and addressing the status of Bangladeshi migrants in Assam.

It is crucial to uphold legal standards while maintaining empathy towards individuals affected by migration policies. Let's prioritize transparency and justice in handling the complexities of immigration dynamics.

Increase parliamentary oversight on Indian intelligence agencies - Hindustan Times

Extract from the article:

The article discusses Congress MP Vrinda Tulsian's call for enhanced parliamentary oversight of Indian intelligence agencies. Tulsian has advocated for the passage of a private member bill aimed at increasing transparency and accountability within India's intelligence community.

This bill, initially introduced by Tewari in 2011 during the Congress regime, highlights the importance of ensuring proper checks and balances on intelligence operations through parliamentary scrutiny.

Parliamentary oversight plays a crucial role in ensuring that intelligence agencies operate within the bounds of law and respect fundamental rights while carrying out their duties.

Tulsian's push for increased scrutiny underscores the need for robust mechanisms to monitor and regulate intelligence activities to prevent potential misuse or overreach. By championing this bill, Tulsian seeks to uphold democratic values and strengthen accountability in national security matters.

My Take:

Surveillance - Make it a Compromise Issue

"Reflecting on my earlier blog post about the need for balance in surveillance practices, it's evident that the issue of oversight on intelligence agencies, as raised by Congress MP Vrinda Tulsian, aligns with the essence of my proposal.

Emphasizing transparency and accountability in intelligence operations is essential to safeguarding individual rights and maintaining public trust.

Tulsian's efforts to enhance parliamentary scrutiny resonate with the core principles I advocated for, promoting a harmonious relationship between national security imperatives and civil liberties."

L & T : Circa 1982

 L & T :  Circa 1982

For 8 years ( 1979 – 1987 ) , I was General Manager ( Powai ) at L&T’s Mumbai factory.

At that time , that factory employed, approx.. 5,000 unionized workers and 2,000 + Supervisory / Managerial staff

During that tenure , with the whole-hearted support of the then L&T Chairman , Shri N M Desai , I had launched a “ Worker Participation in Management “ program .

To encourage  “ Shop Supervisors “  to embrace this “ Act of Faith “, among many initiatives  I also used to distribute among them , some motivational literature

One such book which I distributed  was , “ The Incredible Japanese “ , authored by  M K Rustomji

Find below  :

Ø  Book Cover

Ø  My covering letter

Ø  A diagram of my concept of “ Worker Participation “ in the form of a Pyramid.

Notice that it consisted of 4 stages, spanning 19 years of unrelenting / sustained effort to change the “ Adversial Mindset “ of  Managers / supervisors Vs unionized workers

Training Track Set for 1M Workers to Run Key Schemes

Extract from the article:

India is gearing up to train one million workers under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0. The focus is on rapidly enhancing skills development and building a proficient workforce equipped with capabilities for cutting-edge technologies and governmental initiatives.

By cultivating a pool of skilled workers, the country aims to cater to the escalating demand for trained professionals.

This initiative is set to bridge the gap between the current skill levels and the requirements of the Indian market, ultimately enhancing the employability of the workforce to match the needs of the evolving industry landscape.

My Take:

A. Peter's Web 3.0

In my blog post from September 2015, I emphasized the crucial need to ramp up skill training in India to meet the demands of the growing workforce. I advocated for leveraging technology like Web 3.0 to skill two crore youths annually efficiently.

The recent decision to train one million workers under the Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 aligns with my earlier suggestion of utilizing innovative solutions to bridge the skill gap effectively.

By focusing on training programs that incorporate new-age technologies, India can enhance its workforce's capabilities and fulfill industry requirements seamlessly.

B. Whom to Train? How to Train?

In my blog post from March 2016, I discussed the need for a comprehensive roadmap to address the skill requirements of various industry sectors. The NITI Aayog's endeavor to map industry skill needs and create sector-specific training plans resonates with my proposal to identify and train workers based on industry demands.

By outlining job roles and qualifications, the government can streamline the skilling process and ensure that the workforce is equipped to meet sector-specific requirements effectively.

The emphasis on setting up more Industrial Training Institutes reflects the continuous effort to enhance skill development infrastructures in the country.

Call to Action:

To the policymakers and authorities involved in the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0, I urge you to prioritize the alignment of training programs with industry demands and foster robust partnerships to ensure the effective implementation of the skill development initiative.

By closely aligning training courses with the evolving needs of industries such as coding, artificial intelligence, and robotics, India can skill its workforce for the future job market, driving economic growth and innovation in the country.

Extract from the article:

The Adani Group has made a significant contribution by donating 100 crores to the Young India Skills University in Telangana. This generous donation aims to support skill development initiatives, particularly for the youth.

The investment underscores the importance of nurturing talent and providing opportunities for skill enhancement in the region.

Such philanthropic gestures play a pivotal role in fostering educational and vocational growth, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic development of the community.

My Take:

Skilling 300 Million – Here is the Way!

In my blog post about skilling initiatives, I emphasized the significance of companies contributing funds to educational institutions for the purchase of necessary equipment like 3D VHT to fulfill their CSR obligations.

The recent donation by the Adani Foundation echoes the notion that corporate social responsibility can extend to supporting educational infrastructure and skill development programs.

This aligns perfectly with the concept of leveraging CSR funds to empower students and enhance their learning experiences.

An AI enabled Smart TV ? Here is my Wish-List

Context :

Samsung Electronics Unveils Samsung Vision AI and New Innovations at First Look 2025, Delivering Personalized, AI-Powered Screens To Enrich Everyday Life

Extract :

“Samsung sees TVs not as one-directional devices for passive consumption but as interactive, intelligent partners that adapt to your needs,” said SW Yong, President and Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With Samsung Vision AI, we’re reimagining what screens can do, connecting entertainment, personalization and lifestyle solutions into one seamless experience to simplify your life.”

With the ability to make your Samsung TV aware of its surroundingsadaptive to user preferences and autonomous in delivering intuitive features, Samsung Vision AI transforms screens into smart companions that enhance entertainment, simplify interactions and seamlessly integrate into connected lifestyles.

At the core of Samsung Vision AI are its personalized features, which redefine how users interact with their screens.

·         Click to Search offers instant information about what’s on screen — whether identifying an actor or exploring displayed content — all without disrupting the viewing experience.

·         Live Translate, powered by on-device AI translation model, eliminates language barriers with real-time subtitle translations, allowing viewers to enjoy global content seamlessly.

·         Generative Wallpaper transforms screens into dynamic, personalized art canvases, allowing users to make images that perfectly match their taste or occasion.

Dear SW Yong :

Congratulations on this innovations . I have no doubt , such path-breaking TVs will be welcomed by a huge number of TV viewers – including myself

I assume this is just a beginning and you must have planned further improvements

I have no doubt you must have conducted some sort of a “ Market Survey “ ( re : what customers want ) before writing down the specifications. Even then , allow me to list below what are my “ Needs – User Preferences – Personalization Features “ – which , I think millions of TV viewers would endorse ( some of these, may require you to come up with an innovative REMOTE CONTROL or for TV to accept SPOKEN commands – in multiple languages ) :

( A )  Subtitle Translation

Whereas this is a definite step forward , it is a “ half-way house “. Consider full “ Speech-to-Speech “ translation of the dialogue into multiple languages . Surely , this technology is already available.

( B )  Volume Controls

Most TV shows are terrible when it comes to catching the dialogues since the loud background music score drowns the dialogues. I want to control the volume of the background music ( or even turn it off altogether )

( C )   Advertisements

These are a “ Pain in the Neck “ . I want to be able to choose “ Advt OFF mode “ , eliminating all Advts.

Now , this may not work since the TV channels run on their ADVT revenue. In this case , on the remote provide a button which would allow me to switch-off the SOUND of advts , or vastly reduce it.

Please also consider possibility of my being able to RATE an advt ( on a scale of 1 to 10  / “ hate “ to “ love “ ). This would enable your AI to generate “ Personalized Play Lists “ and provide very valuable FEEDBACK to the advertisers

Another option >

No separate / stand-alone advts what-so-ever. All product or service advts to become “ Virtually Placed / Embedded “ into the video / show ( as just announced by American company  REMBRAND )

( D )   News

Currently , news-related photos / videos keep repeating dozens of times during the announcement of a news item by the Anchor / Reporter. This is very boring – to say the least . Please enable your AI powered TV to FREEZE that image / video , till the announcement gets over. Simply no repetition

And , please could I slow down the speed with which some news-casters speak ?

( E )   Sleep Detection

If , while watching TV , I doze off , your TV should be able to detect it and shut off after 10 minutes

( F )   Favourite Channels

Currently , the remote enables me to create a list of my favourite TV channels. This manual method must be replaced by your AI TV , learning about my “ interests / tastes “ from my “ watch history “ , and , make up such a list on its own . This should be a dynamic process and not frozen on some past watch-history

( G )  Suggestions

Your AI TV should have “ ability “ to make intelligent “ guesses “ about my interests / likes / dislikes , and be in a position to suggest to me , foreign TV channels that it “ thinks “ I might like.

( H )  Health Monitoring

Now some screen-based devices are available for monitoring my health by just looking at the screen. I just heard about ( 1 ) FACEHEART CARDIO MIRROR ( 2 ) WITHINGS OMNI

I urge you to incorporate these health monitoring features into your TV. If any abnormality is detected, TV should send out messages to personal physician or a nearby hospital and video-call to family members

( I ) Video Conferencing

Since Smart AI powered TVs are internet connected , the set top box should work as a CPU / GPU

While conducting VC meets , TV should have built-in features like “ KRISP “ and “ SWAPCARD “ for automatic language translation and generating note / minutes of the meeting

( J )  Content / Data

Currently all TVs deliver SOUND ( audio ) and SIGHT ( video )

I would love to have future AI enabled TVs to also satisfy my senses of TASTE , SMELL and TOUCH

How about letting me :

>   Smell the fragrance of flowers as TV walks me ( of course, a 3D Volumetric projection ) through a garden

>   Taste that pizza / beer , as if I am in a real restaurant

>   feel the softness of the skin of my garand child, from 10,000 Km away ?

Bharatpol : Better Late than Never

Context :

Bharatpol will help bring fugitives to justice: Shah  .. Hindustan Times .. 07 Jan 2025

Bharatpol for seamless info sharing to hunt down criminals launched  .. BL .. 08 Jan 2025

 My Take :

Launching of Bharatpol is not just a coincidence. I believe, it is an ( improvised ) OUTCOME of the following e-mails which I sent to the Cabinet Ministers / Chief Ministers :

E - Governance ?  .. 03 Apr 2014

Break-down the Silos ! ..  16 Sept 2017

I asked ChatGPT  to list the important features of just launched Bharatpol  and compare these with the suggestions contained in my above-mentioned emails

Look up the tabulation below

With regards,

Hemen Parekh

www.My-Teacher.in  /  10 Jan 2025

Bharatpol: A Unified Criminal Information Platform

Feature Description

My Past Suggestion re: This Feature

In What Words Is This Feature Covered (If at All) by Bharatpol

Dismantling Individual Departmental Databases

Proposed dismantling siloed, departmental databases to enable seamless information sharing across agencies ("Break-down the Silos!" - 16 Sept 2017).

Implied by Bharatpol’s mission to unify criminal databases and eliminate isolated data handling.

Merging All Agency-Wise Databases

Suggested merging into a SINGLE/UNIQUE national database to avoid duplication and inconsistencies ("E-Governance?" - 03 Apr 2014).

Mentioned indirectly as Bharatpol integrates national and regional databases for a unified system.

Centralized Data Entry

Recommended a COMMON database where all agencies enter their findings directly, with no local storage, ensuring centralized control.

Implicit in the description of Bharatpol as a unified platform for coordinated actions and seamless info sharing.

Online Data Entry Forms

Advocated replacing paper-based forms with fully ONLINE forms for better tracking, ease of use, and eliminating manual errors.

Likely covered under Bharatpol’s push for digital integration, though explicit references are unavailable in reports.

Ultra-Secure Network Connectivity

Proposed connecting all local systems to an ENCRYPTED and highly secure network to prevent breaches and ensure data integrity.

Not explicitly mentioned but critical for Bharatpol’s success given the sensitive nature of criminal data sharing.

Access Rights with Biometric Identification

Recommended restricting database access to authorized individuals using biometric authentication for enhanced security.

May be part of Bharatpol’s security measures, though specific mechanisms like biometric identification aren't detailed.

Summary of Alignment with Bharatpol:

  • Unified Database: Bharatpol’s aim to integrate databases aligns with your vision of dismantling silos and creating a single repository.
  • Digital and Secure: The features implied (e.g., seamless info sharing) suggest some level of encryption and online data entry, but details remain vague.
  • Biometric Access: This critical aspect is not explicitly mentioned but could enhance Bharatpol’s security framework.

He highlighted India as a hub for the world's young and skilled workforce for the foreseeable future. Modi's vision includes positioning India as a significant contributor to the global talent pool, reflecting the nation's potential to excel in various sectors and industries.

PM Modi's speech underscored the importance of skill development and the role it plays in empowering individuals, eradicating poverty, and fostering self-confidence among the youth.

The emphasis on harnessing India's demographic dividend and transforming it into a skilled workforce for international markets showcases a strategic approach towards economic growth and global competitiveness.

My Take:

Skill Capital of the World

In my blog titled "Skill Capital of the World," I envisioned India becoming a powerhouse of skilled talent on the global stage. Seven years ago, I highlighted PM Modi's call to make India the "Skill Capital of the World" and his projection of a surplus manpower export.

With the recent reaffirmation of this vision by PM Modi, it's evident that our nation's progress towards fulfilling this goal is on track.

The emphasis on skill development in the current context resonates with the foresight provided in my blog, showcasing the evolution of India's role in the international talent landscape.

Human Resource Capital of the World

Reflecting on my blog titled "Human Resource Capital of the World," where PM Modi emphasized the importance of skill development in combating poverty and empowering the youth, it's clear that his recent statements align with the long-term vision outlined in that piece.

The focus on uplifting the underprivileged through skill enhancement and instilling self-confidence resonates with the ethos of transforming India into a hub of human capital.

PM Modi's dedication to harnessing the demographic dividend and channeling it into a skilled workforce mirrors the essence of my blog, highlighting the continued relevance of investing in human resource development.

Call to Action:

To the policymakers and educational institutions mentioned in the article, I urge a concerted effort towards implementing robust skill development programs that align with PM Modi's vision.

Let's work together to bridge the gap between skill supply and global demand, ensuring that India remains at the forefront of providing skilled talent to the world.
