Thank You, Shri Gehlotji

What for ?

For accepting my 6 year old suggestion for retrofitting of old Petrol / Diesel vehicles

( Although my suggestion was to rero-fit with a brand new BS VI compliant ICE engine )

Where did you read this ?

Delhi allows EV retrofitting of diesel cars, SUVs older than 10 years / Auto Car / 21 Nov 2021

Extract :

Recently, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot confirmed that diesel vehicles older than 10 years can continue to be used in the National Capital Region (NCR) provided that they are converted to run on electric power.

Gahlot took to Twitter to announce that Delhi is now open the retrofitting of internal-combustion engine (ICE) cars with electric power

What was your suggestion ?

Here are my e-mails :

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ A ]       PIYUSH PLAN ?............................... [ 27 March 2016 ]

Extract :

DISPOSAL  OF  EXISTING  VEHICLES ( 200 million + produced till 2030 )

*  Enable / encourage MSME units to carry out " Retro Fitting " of existing vehicles

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ B ]      Better Late than Never !..................... [ 01 Nov 2018 ]

Extract :

Why scrap entire vehicle  ?  Why not retrofit  ?

 In an OLD vehicle,

  #   Only “ Polluting Sub Assembly “ is the ENGINE

   #   Other “ Non-Polluting Sub Assemblies “ are :  Body – Chasis – Transmission

        – Tyres etc

So , why SCRAP those non-polluting parts ?

Why not just scrap the old engine and retro-fit the vehicle with a brand NEW engine ( BS VI compliant )  ?

That will mean re-utilizing some 80 % of the asset and , at the same time getting rid of the air pollution !

Did you raise any OTHER ISSUES in respect of OLD vehicles ?

Yes

In this e-mail, I have sought Govt clarifications in respect of :

   #   Ownership of old vehicles

   #   Storage of old vehicles

   #   Cost of towing away and storage

   #   Disposal

   #   Impact on Employment

   #   Supreme Court of New Delhi  ?

Lean Green India Machine

Dear Shri Amitabh Kantji,

Enjoyed your following illuminating article in  Eco Times :

https://amitabhkant.co.in/upload/articles/212397198961822ce9681c51.55278433_Going%20Green.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3Tk_sPhbimbEGr34kJpTZCT0-pjJc1aki-Dcr8eCkxGk7y9HAVzrA76wY

At one place, you write about new technologies which could greatly help us achieve the targets announced by Shri Modiji at COP26 :

----------------------------

“ India has set itself a goal to attain self-reliance in energy by 2047, the hundredth year of independence.

To achieve this, there is a need to invest in cutting-edge technologies across areas such as Batteries, Solar Panels, Green Hydrogen, Electrolysers and Green Steel and focus on their consequent scale-up.

Lithium-air, Lithium-sulfur, Soium-ion, Aluminium-ion and solid state batteries all hold promising potential.

Next generation and high efficiency solar panels, powered by direct ( kerfless ) solar wafers and heterojunction PV, are the future of energy industry. It is now the opportune moment for the Industry to make this transition to digital, lean and green. “

Dear Shri Kant ,

I would like to draw your attention to my following e-mail, in which, I have urged our Policy Makers / Tech Experts etc., to examine following technologies :

Ø  Solar Panels ( at Lab stage, no doubt ) that are 1,000 times more powerful than currently available

Ø  Iron-Air batteries which are one-tenth as costly as current Lithium-ion batteries AND capable of storing Solar Energy for 6 days ( size of a washing machine )

Stampedes : cases of avoidable deaths ?

Context :

Survivors relive Vaishno Devi shrine horror: ‘some fell, were run over’    /  Indian Express  / 02 Jan 2022

Extract :

The stampede that killed 12 pilgrims at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in J&K early on Saturday also left indelible scars in the minds of those who survived the horror.

Seventeen-year-old Ayush from Delhi was returning from the shrine when he saw people ahead, near a police checkpoint, turn back and run.

“There was no one to control the crowd. No one even checked our yatra slips and Covid test certificates,” he said.

Blaming the Shrine Board for the tragedy, he said: “They could have at least made announcements on the public address system, asking people to stand where they are.”

“Before we could react, we saw a crowd of 300-400 people rushing in our direction.

Describing the scene, Sharma said there was “chaos everywhere”.

“Near the Manokamna Bhawan in the complex, another group of 400-500 people was pushing others aside to move forward. Suddenly, people started running in all directions. There was no one to control the crowd. As some fell, others ran over them,” he said.

“They were pushing others aside to move forward. Some minor children were standing there, and some parents were pushing some of them away to save their own children from getting trampled,” he said.

MY  TAKE :

Ø  With regularity, such stampedes occur at religious places in India

Ø  But, it seems authorities have failed to implement “ Preventive Steps / Measures

Ø  Following are the e-mails that I have sent in past to Authorities, suggesting simple methods which will NEVER allow a stampede to take place :

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Some learn : Some just won’t !........................ [ 13 Oct 2013 ]

Extract :

Construct separate / barricaded pathways ( even if temporary ) for coming

          and returning traffic

·         Ensure single-person movement within these pathways (ala Tirupati )

·         Depute just 500 policemen all along the path to regulate the surge of the

          crowd

·         Provide CCTV-control booths at intervals of 500 meters each

·         Provide CCTV based “ Darshan “ of the deity along the way ( ala Shirdi

          SaiBaba )

·         Continuously issue instructions over Public Announcement System

·         Patrol the entire stretch with Police Vans and Ambulances

·         Make provision for water along the way

·         Get NGOs to help regulate traffic by providing volunteers

SIMPLE SOLUTION for STEMPEDE…………………………. [ 24 Sept 2015 ]

Extract :

Stampedes occur when, in a narrow path, some people make a run ( rush ) , for whatever reason , trying to overtake people in front walking normally

The surest - and the safest - way to prevent stampede is :

Simply ensure no one can outrun persons walking in front  !

Eminently possible !

Just install , one above another ( vertically ) , several rope-ways with hanging chairs for 2 persons per chair , safely secured by belts

All rope-ways picking up pilgrims at the Boarding Station and then dropping off at the Disembarkation Station , on the opposite side

Each rope-way moving at variable speeds controlled by CONTROL ROOM

At other places , this concept of horizontally moving conveyors carrying stationary persons , can be replicated with some variations

This automatic arrangement will make it possible for the Authorities enable sick / old / children to perform the pilgrimage !

Will Dr Mahesh Sharma ( Minister for Tourism / Govt of India ) , consider this idea for Maha-Kumbh Mela / Tirupati / Sai Dham , Shirdi / Sinhasth  Kumbh , Nasik etc  ?

May be Shri Narendra Modi , while talking to American CEOs in San Jose today , convince them to come forward with an investment of $ 5 billion at our holy places , to transform Make in India into Incredible India  !

Dismiss   Inefficient   Government   Servant  [   DIGS  ]……………… [ 31 Dec 2017 ]

Is it unfortunate that the Government officers responsible for such accidents, are never held accountable for their lapses ( or worse , for their “ bribe-inspired “ collusion ) which lead to such accidents

I urge some TV Channel / Print Newspaper to develop / launch , a mobile app ( - to be called , DIGS ? ) , with following features :

[ A ]    NATURE  of accident  ( select from following drop-list )

[ B ]    LOCATION  (  enter  )

[ C ]    DATE  (  enter  )

[ D ]    OFFICER RESPONSIBLE ( in your opinion )

[ E ]    PUNISHMENT  ( being recommended by user of DIGS )

[ F ]    CONDITIONS   (  governing use of DIGS app )

Greatest  Show  on  Earth :  Kumbh  Mela………………………….. [ 25 Aug 2018 ]

Extract :

I urge Shri Yogi Adityanathji [ CM – UP ] and Shri V K Anand [ Kumbh Mela Adhikari ] , to consider the following precautionary SAFETY measures to prevent a stampede :

METHOD   A  ……..HORIZONTAL  CONVEYORS

METHOD   B  ……..ROPE WAYS  WITH  HANGING  CHAIRS

METHOD   C  ……..ROLLER  COASTERS

Main Concept :

Simply eliminate walking ( stampede happens when impatient people try to

overtake  pilgrims walking in front of them or have ability to run helter-skelter

 under some perceived threat )

At each “ Arrival Point “ ( Railway Station / Bus Stands / Airport / Parking Plots for private vehicles ) , each arriving visitor to be welcomed with a RFID sensor embedded wrist-band

Before issuing the wrist band, pilgrim’s AADHAR NO will be entered into the sensor

It will be mandatory for the visitors to wear this Wrist Band as long as they are inside the “ PILGRIMAGE PERIMETER “

This will help the central PILGRIM TRAFFIC CONTROL ROOM , to track  :

      #   each and every visitor

      #   missing / lost persons

     #    mischief-mongers / miscreants

     #    accident victims / sick persons

For a fool proof solution for CROWD CONTROL, I urge Kumbh Mela Administation to consider :

#    Increasing the no of CCTV cameras from 1,000 to 10,000

#    Couple these with a FACE RECOGNITION software, such that those who

attempt to “ WALK “ ( instead of riding ), inside the Pilgrimage Perimeter (

area covered by Methods A / B / C ,described earlier ) will find their face,

name, and their Aadhar ID number displayed  on a large LED screen , as

      described in :

“ If you jaywalk in China, facial recognition means , You’ll walk away with a fine “

Dear Shri G Kishan Reddyji ( Minister for Tourism  )

I urge you to consider my above-mentioned suggestions for avoidance of stampedes

There is no rocket-science involved in my suggestions – just simple / old fashioned engineering

Portal for homeless, destitute soon to avail free, highly subsidised foodgrain  / msn  /  26 Dec 2021

Extract :

In a bid to enable the homeless and destitute to have access to free or highly subsidised food grains, the government will soon launch a portal through which NGOs and other civil society organisations could get them registered.

The Centre will subsequently send those names to different states to include them in the list of PDS beneficiaries.

“Currently, this section of people who direly deserve this highly subsidised food-grain are unable to get them because they don’t have ration cards and their ration cards cannot be made as they don’t have proof of residence. Making ration cards is a very difficult process and it’s impossible for these most vulnerable sections to get them despite the fact that they should be the first ones to get this entitlement,” said Union food secretary Sudhanshu Pandey.  [ sudhanshupandey@yahoo.com / secy-food@nic.in ]

Participating in a discussion held as a part of the Good Governance Week, Pandey said his ministry has asked the NIC to come up with a “national portal” to collect data of such vulnerable and most deserving people.

The NGOs can help them to register on the portal. We will then ask the states concerned to include them in the beneficiaries list,” he added.

Pandey told TOI that the work on this has started and this will be a big step to take such benefits to the poorest of the poor.

He added that once these people are included in the beneficiaries list, they can get subsidised foodgrain from a place of their choice as is the case with ration cards under the ‘ One Nation One Ration Card ’ scheme.

Sources said the identity of such beneficiaries can be verified by using biometric authentication with the help of point of sale (PoS) machines.

==============================================

Dear Shri Pandeyji,

Instead of launching one more portal , I urge you to consider utilizing eShram portal which :

Ø  Got launched on 26 Aug 2021

Ø  Has (as of today ) got 18.18 CRORE persons ( migrant / poor ) registered

Ø  Had 41 LAKH persons registering YESTERDAY ( in just one day )

Ø  Registered using SSK > 15.6 Lakh

Ø  Registered using CSC > 12.4 Crore ( No need for NGO help for registering for Ration Cards )

Ø  Self Registered          >   5.6 Crore

Portal requires a person registering to fill in following DATA about himself :

#   e-Kyc …………….Aadhar No / Captcha / Yes-No ( 2 items ) / Capture

                            Finger printIRIS – OTP –

#   Confirmation ( ? )…Name / DOB / Add / Gendre / Locality / District /

                                  State / PIN / Country
