I've been reflecting on the recent news about Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology enabling live content on even Rs 2,000 phones without a data pack. This is not just a technological advancement; it's a societal earthquake. It promises to democratize content access in a way we've only dreamed of, reaching millions who have been outside the digital content ecosystem due to cost barriers.
For years, I've championed the creation of compelling content and its effective dissemination. I recall my discussions with Sanjivani and Kailas, urging them to regularly read newsletters like those from Social Media Examiner and Zeke Camusio (zeke@dataspeaks.ai), precisely to understand what makes content resonate [http://emailothers.blogspot.com/2014/06/fw-11-wordpress-techniques-for-pretty_17.html]. Zeke Camusio's insights on "11 WordPress Techniques for Pretty Posts that Pack a Punch" emphasized the visual and structural aspects of content, ensuring it gets read, shared, and bookmarked. With D2M, content's reach becomes exponential, making the quality and presentation even more critical. Imagine well-crafted, visually appealing content reaching every corner, directly.
This development also brings to mind my earlier thoughts on automating content generation and distribution. I had envisioned "Blog Genie V 2.0" with Manish, Sandeep (sandeep.ahuja@cove.inc), and Sanjivani [http://emailothers.blogspot.com/2024/08/blog-genie-v-20.html]. We discussed a future where manual operations for searching, copying, pasting, and uploading blog content would be automated by "spiders/crawlers." Kishan (kishan@enjoyevervibe.com), with his keen understanding of technology, provided valuable input on the feasibility of such automation, even when we pondered "reverse engineering of blogging" to identify topics I'd written about extensively [http://emailothers.blogspot.com/2024/04/reverse-engineering-of-blogging.html].
The core idea Hemen wants to convey is this — take a moment to notice that I had brought up this thought or suggestion on the topic years ago. I had already predicted this outcome or challenge, and I had even proposed a solution at the time. Now, seeing how things have unfolded with D2M, it's striking how relevant that earlier insight still is. Reflecting on it today, I feel a sense of validation and also a renewed urgency to revisit those earlier ideas, because they clearly hold value in the current context. My concept of content "going viral," akin to Ahi-Ravana's replication that I spoke about in the context of Blog Genie V2.0, finds a new, powerful medium in D2M.
Furthermore, my discussions with Kishan (kishan@enjoyevervibe.com) about evolving Blog Genie into a "universal tool" for leveraging self-generated digital content, imbibing one's thought processes and writing style [http://emailothers.blogspot.com/2024/04/fw-blog-genie-tool.html], now seem even more pertinent. If AI can learn my style and generate content "just like me," and D2M can deliver it directly, we are truly on the cusp of a content revolution.
The foundational work that Shuklendu (shuklendu.baji@sentientsystems.net), Shivanand (svelmurugan@microsoft.com), and Rajesh undertook in designing and populating my blog site, ensuring that content was well-prepared and shareable [http://emailothers.blogspot.com/2013/05/designing-of-wwwhemenparekhin-site.html], laid the groundwork for this kind of broad impact. The principle of making content accessible and engaging remains constant, irrespective of the delivery mechanism. D2M simply amplifies this principle to an unprecedented scale.
This is a future where quality content, effectively generated and distributed, will reach everyone. The digital divide, once a chasm of data affordability, is shrinking.
Regards,
Hemen Parekh
