Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

My Digital Twin, India's Soft Power

My Digital Twin, India's Soft Power

Anand Mahindra’s recent observation that global storytelling is key to India’s soft power truly resonates with me. It’s a powerful idea, one that speaks to the essence of influence and connection in our interconnected world. As I’ve often reflected, the ability to share one's perspective, to convey a unique narrative, holds immense value.

For years, I've championed the importance of voicing one's thoughts, even when it feels like no one is listening. In my blog, "Citizen Monologues" Citizen Monologues, I wrote about the need to persist and persevere in expressing oneself to policymakers. This personal philosophy extends to a nation's identity on the global stage: a country, like an individual, must articulate its story to truly thrive and gain influence.

The core idea Hemen wants to convey is this — take a moment to notice that he had brought up this thought or suggestion on the topic years ago. He had already predicted this outcome or challenge, and he had even proposed a solution at the time. Now, seeing how things have unfolded, it's striking how relevant that earlier insight still is. Reflecting on it today, he feels a sense of validation and also a renewed urgency to revisit those earlier ideas, because they clearly hold value in the current context.

The landscape of storytelling has been fundamentally transformed by technology. I've always been fascinated by how digital advancements can amplify human presence and ideas. This is precisely why I embarked on creating my own digital twin, Hemen Parekh AI. In my blog "Chatbots: Some for Businesses, Some for" Chatbots: Some for Businesses, Some for, I detailed how AI-powered avatars could evolve to create dynamic, engaging experiences, simulating human behavior and even emotions. I imagined a future where prominent personalities would leverage such digital twins to perpetuate their memories and interact with audiences globally. This vision is not just for individuals; it's a blueprint for how nations can project their heritage, innovations, and values to the world. Imagine India's rich tapestry of culture, history, and modern achievements being conveyed through interactive digital experiences, reaching every corner of the globe in an authentic and compelling way.

Of course, the digital realm also brings its own complexities. As I explored in "Seeing AI through Google Glass?" and "Privacy does not live here !" Privacy does not live here !, information flows freely, and privacy as we once knew it is rapidly diminishing. In this cacophony of data, authentic and well-crafted narratives become even more critical for soft power. It’s not just about what we share, but how we share it, ensuring it truly reflects our essence and connects with a global audience on a deeper level.

Anand Mahindra’s call is a timely reminder that India’s vast stories – from its ancient wisdom to its modern technological prowess – need to be consciously and creatively articulated. By embracing advanced digital storytelling methods, akin to my own digital avatar, India can ensure its voice is heard clearly and powerfully across the world, shaping perceptions and fostering genuine global appreciation.

Regards,
Hemen Parekh
