ON-SCREEN TEXT: "JOIN GALGOTIAS AS PROFESSOR OF SPIN?" ]

ANCHOR (V.O.)

Tonight on "Nation At Nine-ish":

A robodog that isn’t ours, a university that says it never said it was,

and a minister who learned the hard way that screenshots live forever.

INT. NEWS STUDIO – CONTINUOUS

The ANCHOR sits center frame. Over his shoulder: SPLIT SCREEN –

Ashwini Vaishnaw’s deleted robodog tweet vs Mahua Moitra’s X post.

ON-SCREEN BUG:

"ROBO-DOG ROW: WHO LET THE DOG SPIN?"

ANCHOR

At the India AI Impact Summit – meant to showcase India’s cutting-edge innovation –

one stall showcased something very cutting edge… just not very Indian.

A Chinese-made robodog from Unitree was rebadged as "Orion" at the Galgotias University pavilion.

The internet sniffed out the truth in seconds. And then,

a now-deleted tweet from Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw praising the dog

went… well… belly up.

Graphic WHIP-PAN to Mahua Moitra’s X POST.

ANCHOR (CONT’D)

Enter Mahua Moitra, Trinamool Congress MP, armed with 280 characters and a taste for blood.

She reposts the minister’s deleted boast and writes – quote –

"Deleting tweets doesn’t change reality @AshwiniVaishnaw – you have made India a laughing stock.

Quit the chair if you can’t do your job. Maybe join Galgotia as Professor of Spin?"

Tonight, we recreate the day India’s big AI showcase turned into a big PR facepalm.

A CAMERA CREW from DD NEWS films. PROFESSOR NEHA SINGH stands beside the dog, mic clipped on.

DD NEWS REPORTER

Professor, what are we looking at here?

PROF. NEHA SINGH

(brimming with enthusiasm)

This is Orion. We are the first private university investing more than 350 crore rupees in AI.

Orion has been developed by our Center of Excellence. As you can see, it can take all shapes and sizes.

It’s quite naughty also.

The ROBODOG does a pre-programmed twirl. CREW chuckles.

PROF. NEHA SINGH (CONT’D)

It can perform small tasks of surveillance, monitoring…

and our students are working on building even more advanced capabilities.

CAMERA PULLS OUT as we…

On-screen label: "Guys… this is literally the Unitree Go2. You can buy it for ₹2–3 lakh."

– COMMUNITY NOTE pops under Galgotias’ post:

"Robot is Unitree Go2, manufactured in China. Not indigenous."

– VIRAL REEL: Dramatic music, zooming in on the robot:

TEXT OVERLAY: "BREAKING: ‘Indian’ robodog is Made in China!"

– Someone posts the MINISTER’S TWEET praising “Orion” with caption:

"Bharat’s sovereign robo-boi turning out to be Beijing’s best friend."

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. MINISTER’S OFFICE – NORTH BLOCK – EVENING

AIDE #1 stands in front of ASHWINI VAISHNAW, who stares at his phone, stunned.

ON HIS PHONE: his own now-viral deleted tweet, screenshot circulating.

AIDE #1

Sir… the tweet… it’s everywhere.

AIDE #2

Rahul Gandhi’s already called the entire AI summit a "disorganised PR spectacle".

AIDE #1

Congress says we’ve made India a laughing stock. Chinese dog… Indian applause… global memes.

Vaishnaw rubs his temples.

VAISHNAW

(with forced calm)

Okay. Listen carefully. We don’t panic.

We say: if something wrong happened, action was taken immediately.

Also… mention good AI solutions. Always mention good AI solutions.

AIDE #2

And the dog, sir?

VAISHNAW

(irritated)

Stop saying "the dog" like it’s a coalition partner.

AIDE #1

We could emphasize accountability, innovation, global south leadership—

VAISHNAW

Yes, yes. People, planet, progress.

He points at AIDE #1.

VAISHNAW (CONT’D)

Draft a statement. No mention of China. Say "globally available tools and resources".

AIDE #1

On it, sir.

He runs out.

INT. TMC OFFICE – KOLKATA – NIGHT

MAHUA MOITRA sits at her desk, laptop open, X feed streaming.

She watches the DD NEWS CLIP of Neha with the robodog, then the deleted tweet screenshot.

She smirks, begins typing.

CLOSE ON SCREEN as she writes:

   "Deleting tweets doesn’t change reality @AshwiniVaishnaw -

you have made India a laughing stock. Quit the chair if you can’t do your job.

Maybe join Galgotia as Professor of Spin?"

She hits POST.

Her aide, DEB, looks over her shoulder.

DEB

"Professor of Spin"… that’ll trend.

Her phone begins to buzz repeatedly: NOTIFICATION STORM.

MAHUA

(crisp, satisfied)

Good. Let them know spin has consequences.

INT. PRIME-TIME DEBATE STUDIO – NIGHT

GRAPHIC: "ROBO-DOG ROW: WHO’S SPINNING WHOM?"

The DEBATE ANCHOR presides over a SPLIT-SCREEN CIRCUS:

– BJP SPOKESPERSON

– OPPOSITION SPOKESPERSON (TMC)

– GALGOTIAS REPRESENTATIVE

– TECH ANALYST

DEBATE ANCHOR

One Chinese robodog, multiple versions of the truth.

Let’s begin with the government. Did India’s AI dream just trip over a Chinese quadruped?

BJP SPOKESPERSON

Look, if anyone did anything wrong, action has already been taken.

The stall was asked to vacate, electricity cut, everything.

But why ignore the many, many positive Indian AI solutions showcased?

OPPOSITION SPOKESPERSON

Positive? You took a Chinese robodog, slapped an Indian name on it,

had your minister tweet "Bharat’s sovereign models"—

now you’re saying it’s a "teaching tool".

This is not AI, this is PR.

GALGOTIAS REP

(earnest, flustered)

We never claimed we built it.

TECH ANALYST

On national TV, your professor literally said, quote, "Orion has been developed by our Center of Excellence."

GALGOTIAS REP

It was miscommunication… in the enthusiasm of being on camera.

She was not fully aware of the technical origins—

OPPOSITION SPOKESPERSON

So your "Center of Excellence" doesn’t know where its own dog comes from.

BJP SPOKESPERSON

(annoyed)

This is being blown out of proportion on social media.

Rahul Gandhi, Mahua Moitra – they just want to pull India down.

DEBATE ANCHOR

But Minister Vaishnaw’s tweet, which praised this very dog at the Indian AI summit,

was deleted. If it was all above board, why hit delete?

BJP SPOKESPERSON

Sometimes tweets are misinterpreted—

TECH ANALYST

No, the hardware was misinterpreted. The tweet was very clear.

LAUGHTER from some panelists, ANCHOR suppresses a grin.

CUT TO:

INT. GALGOTIAS UNIVERSITY – CONFERENCE ROOM – DAY

A row of senior administrators. On the screen at the head of the table: The viral video.

VICE CHANCELLOR pauses on Neha saying "developed by our Center of Excellence".

VICE CHANCELLOR

(deflated)

"Developed by"?

PR HEAD

We can still control this. We issue a statement: no institutional intent to misrepresent.

Blame miscommunication, highlight student learning, global tools—

LEGAL ADVISER

Use the phrase "classroom in motion". Sounds visionary, not fraudulent.

HR HEAD

And the professor?

PR HEAD

She was "ill-informed", not authorised to speak, overly enthusiastic.

We apologise "for the confusion".

VICE CHANCELLOR

We apologise profusely, but also say it’s a propaganda campaign against our students.

We’re aligned with Prime Minister’s vision, Aatmanirbhar Bharat—

LEGAL ADVISER

Just… maybe don’t use the word "Orion" again.

CUT TO:

INT. PRESS ROOM – DELHI – DAY

REPORTERS scroll through a fresh GALGOTIAS PRESS RELEASE.

REPORTER #1 (V.O.)

(reading)

"We at Galgotias University, wish to apologise profusely for the confusion created at the recent AI Summit.

One of our representatives, manning the pavilion, was ill-informed…

In her enthusiasm of being on camera, she gave factually incorrect information…"

REPORTER #2

So the dog is Chinese, but the spin is fully indigenous.

They all snicker.

CUT TO:

INT. X (FORMERLY TWITTER) – ABSTRACT VISUAL SPACE

TWEETS swirl in 3D space.

– CLIP of Mahua’s "Professor of Spin" jab.

– A COMMUNITY NOTE under Galgotias’ earlier claim:

"They named the robot ‘Orion’ and explicitly claimed it was developed by their team."

OVER THIS, we HEAR VOICES from the political side.

RAHUL GANDHI (V.O.)

"Instead of leveraging India’s talent and data, the AI summit is a disorganised PR spectacle –

Indian data up for sale, Chinese products showcased."

BJP LEADER (V.O.)

"Rahul Gandhi is heavily invested only in putting India down.

The opposition is trying to undermine India’s technological progress."

Mahua’s post zooms forward again – "Professor of Spin" highlighted in bold.

MATCH CUT TO:

INT. SATIRICAL LATE-NIGHT SET – NIGHT

A COMEDY HOST stands before a big screen showing Vaishnaw and the robodog.

COMEDY HOST

So to recap:

– A Chinese company builds a robodog.

– An Indian university renames it "Orion".

– A professor says it’s "developed" by their Center of Excellence.

– The government showcases it at an India AI summit.

– The minister tweets "Bharat’s sovereign models" and then deletes it.

Beat.

COMEDY HOST (CONT’D)

And the official explanation is:

"She was just really excited to be on camera."

ON-SCREEN GRAPHIC:

"NEW COURSE: ADVANCED EXCITEMENT STUDIES – 4 CREDITS, 100% PLACEMENT IN BLAME."

LAUGHTER.

COMEDY HOST (CONT’D)

Look, to be fair, they did create something original.

They didn’t build the dog, but they built… the spin.

BIG GRAPHIC: "PROFESSOR OF SPIN – APPLICATIONS OPEN"

with a caricature of Vaishnaw in academic robes holding a spinning robodog on a stick.

CUT TO:

INT. NEWS STUDIO – NIGHT (BACK TO ORIGINAL ANCHOR)

ANCHOR

As the government insists it acted swiftly, Galgotias says it’s a victim of "propaganda",

professors say it was all a "misinterpretation", and the opposition demands resignations…

one line from Mahua Moitra’s X post has stuck:

"Maybe join Galgotia as Professor of Spin?"

He turns to CAMERA 2 for the close.

ANCHOR (CONT’D)

In a country that wants to lead the world in AI,

perhaps the real test isn’t how fast your robots can run,

but how honest you are about where they come from.

Until we get that right, the only thing truly Made in India…

may be the excuses.

I’m signing off before someone says this broadcast was

"misinterpreted in the enthusiasm of being on camera."

Good night.

[THEME MUSIC UP. GRAPHIC: ROBO-DOG POWERING DOWN WHILE A SPINNING TOP KEEPS SPINNING.]

FADE OUT.
