Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

TV Channels and TV Advertisers : Consider this

Same Ad, Five Times in One Hour ? There is a Better Way !

Hi Friends,

Watch any one-hour show on Indian TV and count the ad breaks. The same 15-second ad for the same product may play four or five times. By the third repeat I have stopped watching, and by the fifth I am reaching for the remote.

My Vision

The advertiser gives only the core theme of the product or service. AI then serves up a different, unique 15-second ad for each slot. The product, promise, and legal disclaimers stay the same, but the story, setting, and voice are fresh every time. The viewer sees the brand five times in an hour, but never the same ad twice.

Is it feasible ?

Yes, in stages.

  • Production: AI-generated shoots deliver three to five times more creative variations in the same window as one traditional shoot, and Indian AI ad-film studios deliver a finished 30 to 60 second film in 7 to 15 working days. Ten fresh cuts of one 15-second spot is now a small job. Cybertizemedia
  • Connected TV: AI "variant factories" can already generate thousands of video variants in seconds, with creative tailored by language, city, or team. My idea applies the same technology to fight repetition inside a single ad break. Truefan
  • What comes next: Ads that update in real time based on weather, time of day, or regional interests are expected soon. The Media Ant

Hurdles on linear TV

  1. Clearance: Human review isn't optional when AI generates content that goes to market. Fully live generation would skip that check, which is risky for health, finance, and food claims. Creatify
  2. Playout and billing: As far as I understand, channels schedule pre-delivered ad files, and spot monitoring relies on recognizing known creatives. Unique ads would need registering in advance.
  3. Consistency: AI must vary the story, never the facts, claims, or disclaimers.
  4. Proof it pays: Advertisers will want evidence that variety lifts sales. CTV campaigns already compare sales lift in cities with personalized variants against control cities. The same test can be used here. Truefan

A practical path

  1. Start on ad-supported streaming platforms such as JioHotstar, SonyLIV, and ZEE5, where dynamic ad insertion already exists.
  2. The advertiser submits one brief with a fixed core message.
  3. AI generates 5 to 10 variants.
  4. Humans and compliance approve them.
  5. A rotation engine ensures no ad repeats within one break.
  6. Later, add city, time-of-day, and weather variants.

My Take

Repetition is not the enemy. Boredom is. A little repetition helps recall, so the goal is variety around one message, not five unrelated ads. Done right, the advertiser gets the frequency and the viewer gets some relief.
