Launch > MISSION – BOOST MEDICAL TOURISM
via www.HealinIndia.gov.in –
A Game-Changing Portal to Earn Billions in Forex & Create Jobs
===================================================
Respected Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji,
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare
Government of India
Namaste Sir,
I am writing to urge you to launch “MISSION – BOOST MEDICAL TOURISM”
through a dedicated, world-class online portal — www.HealinIndia.gov.in —
that will position India as the undisputed global leader in affordable, high-quality
healthcare.
Just 11 years ago (September 2015), a visionary note to the Cabinet highlighted
that India could become the “Back Factory of the World” by enabling Indians to
remotely operate factories, control air traffic, perform surgeries, and teach
students abroad — freeing millions from poverty without migration.
That vision is now reality
On 8 April 2026, Dr. T B Yuvaraja of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani
Hospital, Mumbai, successfully performed India’s first cross-border remote
robotic surgery on a 54-year-old woman in Muscat, Oman (over 1,500 km away)
— suspected kidney cancer case using the SSII Mantra robotic system. The
patient recovered smoothly. This proves Indian expertise can now reach patients
anywhere on the planet.
The same note also emphasised medical tourism as a massive forex and job
creator. Today the opportunity is even bigger.
Cost Advantage Tabulation ( below ) shows huge savings for foreign patients
— even after air travel + 1-week stay. India already earns far more from medical
tourism than Vietnam ($850 million) or Cambodia ($434 million), yet our potential
is untapped.
A single government portal can multiply this many-fold.
Proposed Features of www.HealinIndia.gov.in ( Searchable Database ):
- Names / contact details of 500+ NABH/JCI hospitals with “Room + Operating Tariffs” for each procedure - enabling ONLINE BOOKING
- Hospital stay, pre/post-operative care packages
- Surgeon profiles (qualifications, experience, specialties)
- Hotel listings (tariff, rating, distance from hospitals + Google Maps)
- Special section on REMOTE SURGICAL PROCEDURES — listing tie-ups with foreign hospitals (e.g., Oman, Shanghai)
This one-stop portal will eliminate confusion, build trust, and convert enquiries into
arrivals — just as “Make in India” and “Digital India” did in their domains.
Sir,
You are our next-generation Freedom Fighter.
Millions of Indians depend on you to bring jobs and dignity home instead of forcing
them to migrate. Launching this Mission will:
- Earn billions more in foreign exchange
- Create lakhs of direct/indirect jobs (doctors, nurses, paramedics, hospitality)
- Showcase “Heal in India” as a global brand
I humbly request you to kindly consider this proposal at the earliest and direct the
Ministry to initiate the portal in partnership with private hospitals and the Tourism
Ministry. I (and many like-minded citizens) stand ready to support in any way.
With deepest respect and national pride,
Hemen Parekh

ANNEXURES :
Cost Advantage Tabulation for 5 Major Surgical Procedures (2025-2026 Data)
India offers world-class care (JCI/NABH-accredited hospitals, robotic technology,
English-speaking surgeons trained globally) at 70-90% lower costs than in the
USA/UK/Europe — even after adding air travel + 1-week hotel stay for the patient
+ 1 attendant (approx. $3,500–$4,500 total from USA/Europe/Middle East:
round-trip flights ~$2,000–$3,000 + 7 nights 3-4 star hotel near hospital ~$500–
$700 + misc.).
Here is a clear comparison (average costs in USD; packages often include surgeon
fees, hospital stay, implants, pre/post-op care):
===================================================
| Procedure | India Cost (USD) | USA Cost (USD) | Savings in India (before travel) | India + Travel/Hotel (~$4,000 add-on) | Net Savings vs. USA |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Total Knee Replacement (Unilateral) | $6,200 | $50,000 | ~88% | ~$10,200 | ~$39,800 |
| Total Hip Replacement | $7,000 | $50,000 | ~86% | ~$11,000 | ~$39,000 |
| Heart Bypass Surgery (CABG) | $5,200 | $144,000 | ~96% | ~$9,200 | ~$134,800 |
| Heart Valve Replacement | $5,500 | $170,000 | ~97% | ~$9,500 | ~$160,500 |
| Liver Transplant | $30,000 | $400,000 (avg.) | ~93% | ~$34,000 | ~$366,000 |
==============================================
Sources & Notes:
Costs drawn from 2025-2026 industry reports and hospital data. India figures are
for top private hospitals (e.g., Apollo, Fortis, Kokilaben, Max).
US figures are uninsured/private pay averages.
Actual quotes vary by hospital/surgeon/complexity, but savings remain massive
Many Indian hospitals offer all-inclusive “medical tourism packages” with airport
pickup, translator, and post-op rehab.
Foreign Exchange Earnings Comparison
- India:
- Medical tourism market valued at ~$11–12 billion in 2025–2026 and
- projected to hit $13 billion by 2026 (some analyses forecast up to $20
- billion). It already attracts over 1.3 lakh medical FTAs in early 2025 alone
- and is growing at 12%+ CAGR.
- Vietnam: ~$850 million in 2025 (projected ~$4 billion by 2033).
- Cambodia: ~$434 million in 2024 (projected ~$2.9 billion by 2033).
India is already earning 15–25 times more than these peers and has far higher
potential — with the right portal, targeted marketing, and emphasis on
remote/robotic capabilities, it can easily scale to $50+ billion in the next decade
while creating lakhs of high-skill jobs.
