NEET UG 2026 Refund Activated

NEET UG 2026 Refund Activated

I’m writing this to guide students and parents quickly and clearly: the NEET UG 2026 fee-refund link has been activated on the official portal. If you paid an examination fee that is eligible for refund, you need to submit your bank details on the NTA portal without delay. Below I explain who is eligible, what you will need, step-by-step instructions, cautions about scams, contact options, and quick FAQs.

Quick link (official)

  • Official portal: neet.nta.nic.in
  • Look for the banner or menu item named "Refund of Examination Fee" or "Fee Refund / Submit Bank Details" on the homepage.

Who is eligible

  • Candidates who were declared eligible by NTA guidelines for a refund (for example: duplicate payments, cancelled candidature where NTA policy allows refund, other official refund categories).
  • Eligibility is determined by NTA — check the exact eligibility criteria and list of affected candidates on the official refund page on the portal.

Note: If you don’t see a refund banner or your application number isn’t listed, do not share account or OTP details with anyone — contact NTA (see contact section).

Documents & information you should have ready

  • Active bank account number (Indian bank account in the candidate’s or authorised account holder’s name).
  • IFSC code of the bank branch.
  • Name of account holder (exact spelling as per bank records).
  • A cancelled cheque leaf or a copy of the bank passbook showing account name, number and IFSC (some portals ask you to upload this).
  • Your NEET application number, date of birth and the password or OTP needed to log in.
  • A working mobile number and email address registered with NTA (for OTPs and confirmation).

Tip: Have a clear scanned image or a photo-ready copy of the cancelled cheque or passbook if the portal requires an upload.

Step-by-step: How to submit bank details on the NTA portal

  1. Open a desktop or mobile browser and go to the official site: https://neet.nta.nic.in.
  2. On the homepage, find the banner or menu titled "Refund of Examination Fee" or "Fee Refund / Submit Bank Details". (It’s often an obvious banner or a menu link — look near recent announcements.)
  3. Click the refund banner/link. You will be taken to the refund submission page.
  4. Authenticate using your NEET credentials (usually application number + password / DOB). Complete any OTP verification sent to your registered mobile/email.
  5. On the bank-details form, carefully enter:
  • Account holder name (exactly as shown on bank records),
  • Bank account number,
  • Confirm account number,
  • IFSC code,
  • Branch name (if requested),
  • Mobile number and email (if requested to update contact details).
  1. If the page asks for document upload, attach a cancelled cheque or a bank passbook page showing account name, account number and IFSC. Use clear, legible scans or photos.
  2. Double-check every field. Mistyped account numbers are the most common cause of failed refunds.
  3. Click "Submit" or "Save & Continue" (the button label may vary). On the confirmation screen, click "Confirm" if prompted.
  4. After submission, download or screenshot the acknowledgement / confirmation page. Note the transaction reference or acknowledgement number.
  5. Monitor the registered mobile/email for an acknowledgement SMS/e-mail and later for refund processing status.

Where the buttons/links are: the portal typically uses a large banner link on the homepage and a prominent Submit button at the bottom of the form. If you can’t find it, check the announcements/press release section on the same site.

Deadlines — what to watch for

  • The refund window is time-limited. The final date for submission is displayed on the official refund page and in official announcements on neet.nta.nic.in.
  • Do not wait: submit your bank details as soon as possible after the link is live. Late submissions may not be accepted.

Note: I strongly recommend taking action on the same day you read this — keep an eye on the official portal for the exact deadline shown on the refund page.

How long until you get the refund?

  • NTA will publish processing timelines on the refund page. Refunds can take several weeks (the portal or acknowledgement will typically mention the expected timeframe). Keep your acknowledgement reference to check status.

Contact information (official)

  • Official NEET / NTA portal: https://neet.nta.nic.in
  • General NTA email (used in official communications): genadmin@nta.ac.in

If you need help: always use the contact channels listed on the official portal. Do not trust phone numbers or emails shared in social media posts unless they are explicitly listed on neet.nta.nic.in.

Cautions — avoid scams

  • Only use the official domain: neet.nta.nic.in (or nta.ac.in). Do not click links in unsolicited WhatsApp messages, SMS, or emails unless they clearly lead to the official site.
  • NTA will never ask for your bank OTP, full debit/credit card number, or net-banking password. If anyone asks for these, it’s a scam.
  • Do not pay anyone to submit the refund form on your behalf. The refund submission is free and straightforward.
  • If someone promises instant refunds for a fee or asks for cash, report to NTA and local authorities.

If something goes wrong — common problems & quick fixes

  • Forgot password: use the portal’s Forgot Password flow or the registered email/phone to reset.
  • Upload failed: reduce file size and re-scan; check allowed formats (JPEG/PDF). Use a clear photo taken in good light.
  • Wrong account entered: contact NTA immediately via official email and keep your acknowledgement handy.

FAQs

Q: I submitted wrong bank details. What should I do?

A: Contact NTA immediately via the official email on the portal (keep your submission acknowledgement). Follow NTA’s instructions — do not share OTPs or banking passwords.

Q: Who can I contact to check refund status?

A: Use the official portal status link (if provided) or write to genadmin@nta.ac.in and include your NEET application number and acknowledgement reference.

Q: Will NTA refund to a third-party bank account?

A: Refund policy varies. Some refunds require the original payee’s account. Check the instructions on the portal carefully; if in doubt, contact NTA.

Q: How long will the refund take after submission?

A: The portal or acknowledgement usually mentions an expected processing window. Keep the acknowledgement number and check updates on the official site or via the official email.

Q: I can’t find the refund banner on the portal.

A: Refresh the homepage, clear browser cache, try a different browser/device, or revisit later — the portal may be under heavy load. If it remains missing, contact NTA via the official email.

I know this is a stressful moment for many families. My advice: act quickly, use only the official site, double-check account numbers, save your acknowledgement, and keep copies of uploaded documents. If you need clarification, email NTA from your registered email address with your NEET application number and acknowledgement details.

Regards,
Hemen Parekh
